Poland: Polsat viewership overtakes WBD
October 20, 2026
Nielsen, the specialist in audience measurement, has published its All Screens Video Landscape report for Poland during September 2026.
The report measures total household viewership across the country – defined as a combination of total reach and time spent – across four screens: TVs, PCs/laptops, smartphones, and tablets.
Polsat captured a 19.05 per cent audience share in September, overtaking Warner Bros Discovery (18.41 per cent) to claim the top spot in the distributor rankings for the first time in 2026.
Live sport proved to be a primary viewership engine. Polsat broadcast four of the top 10 and eight of the top 20 most-watched programmes of the month, all of which were live volleyball matches – underlining the continued appointment-to-view power of live sports. The Poland vs France clash on September 26th drew more than 4.8 million viewers, making it the second most-watched broadcast of the month.
In another notable shift within the distributor rankings, SPI International entered the top 10, edging out Netflix.
Overall video consumption rebounded in September compared to August, lifted by higher traditional linear television viewing coinciding with the launch of autumn programming schedules. In contrast, streaming engagement softened month-over-month, recording declines in both reach and total viewing time.
Lucyna Koba, Market Leader, Nielsen Poland, said: “The shifting rankings in September highlight just how fiercely competitive the Polish video landscape is right now. The rebound in traditional television viewing – driven by strong autumn schedules and massive live sporting events—shows that the battle for audience attention is fluid. Seeing a local powerhouse like Polsat reclaim the number one spot, and traditional distributors challenging global streaming platforms for top 10 positions, demonstrates that broadcasters who invest in premium, unmissable moments can actively win back screen time.”
