Skylink has given further details of its plans to adopt the Canal+ name in the Czech Republic and Slovakia on October 22, accompanied by four new channels and an expanded streaming offering.
The relaunched service will offer seven Canal+ channels and more than 20,000 on-demand titles through the Canal+ app, bringing television and streaming together under a single brand.
The four additions are the flagship Canal+ channel, featuring entertainment, original productions, films and major sporting events; Canal+ Drama; Canal+ Crime; and Canal+ Classics.
They join an offering that includes Canal+ Action and Canal+ Sport, with sports coverage spanning the Premier League and WTA tennis tournaments.
“The rollout of the Canal+ brand in the Czech Republic and Slovakia exemplifies our ambition in Europe: to offer a premium and distinctive entertainment experience, driven by exclusive content and a platform that combines television and streaming,” said Christophe Pinard-Legry, CEO of Canal+ Europe.
The Canal+ app will combine live channels, sport, films, series, Canal+ Originals and local programming, with personalised recommendations across connected devices.
Yassine Bouzoubaa, CEO of Canal+ Benelux & Central Europe, said the rebranding would support an enhanced channel line-up, a larger catalogue and new features.
“We will also continue to strengthen our investment in local content and in the development of Czech and Slovak talent, which remains an important pillar of our strategy in the region,” he said.
Canal+ presented the new offering to media and partners at an event in Prague on October 19.
