Sports Studio, the company behind the free, ad-supported streaming service Free Live Sports (FLS), has completed the migration of the Free Live Sports apps to Gizmott, the OTT platform from Gizmeon. The move gives FLS viewers a more personal way to find live sports, starting with an AI-powered electronic programme guide (EPG) that orders channels for each viewer based on their own watch behaviour.

Free Live Sports carries 125 sports FAST Channels. In a traditional static grid, most of that lineup sits below the fold. The new FLS guide learns what each viewer actually watches and moves those channels to the top, so a combat sports fan, a football fan and a motorsports fan each open the app to a different guide.

The service will also soon add vertical feed of recent sports highlights, clips and commentary, scrollable on mobile and CTV apps.

Interactive features are also in the pipeline, enabling new ways for viewers to engage with the screen using their remote, turning a lean-back stream into a lean-in experience for fans and opening new opportunities for advertisers.

“Sports fans don’t want to scroll through a hundred channels to find the game. They want the guide to already know them,” commented Cathy Rasenberger, co-founder of Sports Studio. “Moving FLS to Gizmott let us build a guide that does exactly that. It is also the foundation for what comes next: sport verticals that serve fans and advertisers better, and interactive features that let viewers do more than just watch. We’ll have more to share on that soon.”

“Sports audiences are some of the most engaged viewers in streaming, and Free Live Sports is a great showcase for what Gizmott’s AI capabilities can do for discovery,” added Firoze Moosakutty, CEO of Gizmeon. “We’re proud to power the next chapter of FLS.”
