Elon Musk has invested approximately $1 billion in Skydance as the newly combined Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery business begins integrating its studios, streaming services and television operations.

According to Semafor, the investment forms part of a wider effort by Skydance to raise equity financing. The size of Musk’s resulting stake and any associated governance rights were not disclosed in the reports.

Paramount completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery on October 6, with the combined company adopting the Skydance name.

Co-chief executives David Ellison and Ynon Kreiz are overseeing the integration of Paramount and Warner Bros., alongside streaming platforms Paramount+ and HBO Max, television networks and news operations.

The group is targeting $6 billion in cost savings over three years while carrying a debt burden of almost $80 billion.

The investment adds another financial connection between Musk and the Ellison family. David Ellison’s father, Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, invested $1 billion in Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in 2022 and previously served on Tesla’s board.

Larry Ellison also personally guaranteed more than $40 billion of equity financing for Paramount’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery.
