October 23, 2026

Euroconsumers, the European consumer group, has launched a petition page where Disney+ subscribers can sign up to support its demands. for subscribers affected by the loss of 4K HDR and 3D on Disney+.

The group is seeking automatic price reductions and compensation for subscribers affected by the loss of 4K HDR and 3D on Disney+. The streaming service has been without the viewing formats since July in 11 EU countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania and Sweden) due to a patent dispute with InterDigital.

Altroconsumo is calling for:

an automatic refund of at least €5 for each month the service was downgraded, without subscribers having to make individual claims
a reduction in subscription fees until the missing features are restored
clear information for all affected subscribers.
Italy is the largest market covered by the formal notice, with around 1.5 million ad-free subscribers, equivalent to around €7.7 million a month at €5 per subscriber.

The groups are giving Disney 14 days from receipt to automatically cut the Premium price and credit at least €5 per subscriber per month. If it doesn’t, they will ask EU and national authorities for fines of up to 4 per cent of Disney’s turnover in those countries.
