Microsoft pulling Copilot from smart TVs
October 30, 2026

After less than two years, Microsoft is ending support for its Copilot AI assistant’s functionality on all LG and Samsung TVs before the end of the year. Copilot will remain available on web, desktop and mobile platforms.

A Microsoft support notice confirmed the news, stating: “Copilot is being retired from TVs and will no longer be available on Samsung and LG TVs on December 1, 2026. After retirement, customers will no longer be able to access Copilot on TVs.”

Microsoft Copilot serves as an AI-powered companion on smart TVs that users can chat with to find out what’s on and receive content recommendations. The Copilot app’s launch on LG TVs was met with widespread backlash in December 2025 after it was automatically pinned to the TV’s home screen. LG TV owners were unhappy with AI ‘bloatware’ being forced upon them. In response, LG created a way for users to remove the app.
