Viaplay Group has completed the sale of its Dutch streaming and broadcasting operations to DPG Media-owned Videoland for €142 million, bringing its withdrawal from the Netherlands to a close.
The transaction, first announced in July, has received the necessary regulatory and lender approvals, with all remaining closing conditions fulfilled.
Videoland is acquiring Viaplay’s Dutch sports portfolio, including Formula 1, Premier League football and PDC darts.
The Dutch business generated net sales of €149 million in 2025. Viaplay expects to receive approximately €100 million in net cash proceeds after transaction and restructuring costs, together with future payments relating to legacy multi-year agreements.
The proceeds will be used to reduce the group’s net debt, with Viaplay also considering refinancing its outstanding borrowing facilities to lower borrowing costs.
Jørgen Madsen Lindemann, President and CEO of Viaplay Group, said: “Now that the transaction is complete, our resources are fully focused on our operations in our core Nordic markets, where we have the greatest scale and synergy potential.”
The disposal forms part of Viaplay’s wider restructuring, which has included taking full ownership of Nordic satellite and broadband operator Allente.
The financial impact of the transaction, including non-cash balance sheet adjustments, will be reported as items affecting comparability in Viaplay’s fourth-quarter results.
Viaplay said the sale would not affect its financial targets for the full year 2026.
DPG Media previously said approximately 50 Viaplay employees would transfer to the new owner.
