Telenet’s expanded Play Sports offering and new modular fixed-mobile packages helped support customer growth in the third quarter, as the Belgian operator recorded its sixth consecutive quarter of broadband additions.
The company added 4,100 broadband subscribers, taking its base to 1,761,700 at the end of September. Mobile postpaid subscriptions also increased by 4,100 to 2,659,800.
Telenet attributed its commercial momentum to BASE promotional offers, the introduction of more flexible converged packages and improvements to its entertainment proposition.
Households taking converged services accounted for 55.6% of the broadband base, compared with 55.0% a year earlier.
During the quarter, Telenet expanded Play Sports, including Jupiler Pro League football following the renewal of its agreement with DAZN. The operator said the enhanced sports proposition supported customer growth, with further uptake expected in the fourth quarter. It did not disclose separate sports subscription figures.
The commercial benefits come with additional content costs. In its accompanying results, parent company Liberty Global identified programming costs associated with the new DAZN agreement as a factor weighing on Telenet’s adjusted EBITDA, while Jupiler Pro League programming contributed revenue.
Telenet said it continued to prioritise customer acquisition and retention during the first nine months of 2026, alongside targeted investment in products, networks and customer experience.
