OPENBOX FIRMWARE Loading Instructions

Hi, Is there anybody out there who can post instructions for updating firmware for Openbox X-810 receiver from a PC ?

I'm using a 3 wire null modem cable pins 2to3, 3to2 and 5to5 and am using loader program All Updater 1.00.

I keep getting failed connection error.

I'm using a laptop with USB to serial converter and even tried with an old PC with a serial connection but keep getting the failed connection error.

Is there something I should be proramming on the reciever to get the new firmware loaded.

hi my friend, maybe your laptop doesn't sync the Cable.
try this metode, hope you'll find it usefull

go to ' My computer ' and make a right click ( with the Mouse ) .
after that, Proprietés ---- Material ---- Gestionnaire de périphériques ---- Ports (COM et LPT ---- hit twice the port com ---- propriètés ----- Paremètres du port ---- hit Advanced ---- choose the port com ---- OK

Unfortunately I alreasy tried what you suggested my Com settings are,

Bits per second = 115200
Data bits = 8
Parity = None
Stop bits = 1
Flow Control = None

I'm beginning to think that the serial port on the Openbox may be faulty.

Which com port do you use??? Try change com port (1 or 3). Check drivers for USB and serial cable. If you cannot conect PC and STB write!!

I had this with my openbox, it was the max232 chip, it is quite common for these to blow. Maybe you could try a new lead first though.. Can you use pobedit to talk to the reciever ??

Kolorado, Thanks for your suggestion. Have tried changing com ports but no luck. Even tried reloading the drivers. I'm suspecting a problem with the Openbox Rs232 port.

Do you have a pic which shows the max232 chip ? You may be onto something here. I'll give pobedit a go in the meant time and let you know how I go. Thanks.

I have a schematic diagram of the X800 which i have uploaded for you but it is easy to locate as it is near the rs232 when you open the box. Although i gave up with mine in the end as it had burnt out the circuit near three capacitors just below the max232.. I got a cheap phoenix apollo and converted it to an openbox x820.. anyway good luck
