I have copied this from another forum, thanks to jimihendix
A couple of members have asked for a simple guide to updating their Openbox receivers, not supprising as it can be quite scarey the first time you try to do it. If you follow these simple steps one at a time you won't have any problems.
Before starting make sure that you have downloaded the Loader programme and have unzipped it and installed it on your worktop. You will also need the latest patch for your receiver.
Step 1 : Switch off the Openbox at the mains and connect it to your PC using a "null modem" cable.
Step 2 : Run the Loader programme and set the serial port to whichever serial port you use.
Step 4 : Now click the "File Tab" and load the Openbox update you downloaded.
Step 5 : Now click the "Update" tab and switch on the mains supply to the receiver.
You will now see 3 horizontal bars travelling from left to right, this will continue for a couple of minutes after which you will see "n" again moving left to right followed by "0" and lastly "8" DO NOT INTERRUPT THE PROCESS UNTILL YOU SEE "8" OK the update is over switch off the receiver, remove the cable and switch on the receiver again.
The main thing is once started do not interfere with the process YOU MUST WAIT FOR "8" to appear only then is the update over.
Follow these instructions and you won't go wrong, make sure that you use the correct file for your receiver.
Kip22,
You are number 1.
thank you alot. it has been done!wow.
did u try to use a full wired and full duplex crossover cable with your openbox and usb convertor some thing like this >>>
instead of an 3 wire only version cuz .. before i turned over my sab challenger to openbox, i had to use a full wired version instead of a simple tree wire home made cable...

Hi there, i have openbox F-300 and i want to update it, i really don't know where to get the update from and how to do it. please help me with this. thanks in advance!
Hello mate, the support for the openbox f-300 is now finished to get the latest firmware you need to convert your receiver to the x-800 this is possible with the file i have uploaded in the firmware section here http://www.satsupreme.com/showthread.php?t=40667 (post 8).. Of course this is at your own risk but i know it works 99% of the time... The procedure for converting is the same as if you were updating firmware for which i have posted i guide in the previous post in this thread... let me know if you have any problems.. The support for the 800 is far better than the 300 as they do not make the 300 anymore![]()
can someone help me plz i having problem to update my x-810
