Top Up TV licensed for new data service

Ofcom has issued Top Up TV with a licence to provide a new data service.

The Digital Television Additional Service licence, which could be used for a wide variety of applications from text news to interactive advertising, has been granted with the name Top Up TV Data Service.

A spokesman said details of what it will be used for would be announced later in the year.
