Programmers Boast About Survey Results

NFL Network boasted about its rankings in the recent Beta Satellite Dish Subscriber Study released this week, pointing out its popularity among satellite TV subscribers coast-to-coast.

Among all measured channels, NFL Network ranked No. 1 in average perceived value among viewers. Among mid-sized and emerging networks, the programmer ranked No. 1 among viewers who found the network important to their enjoyment of satellite TV, and No. 1 among viewers who said they are very satisfied with the channel.

"These results prove that the NFL Network continues to be one of the most popular networks with fans," said Kim Williams, COO of NFL Network. "The study shows the value of the year-round programming on the NFL Network."

Also, Discovery Communications said that for the 13th consecutive year its Discovery Channel property ranked No. 1 in importance to the enjoyment of satellite service among adults, according to the Beta study cited by the programmer.

The network came in at the top in seven of eight categories measured, including a ranking of No. 1 as a favorite channel, in network satisfaction, and in importance to the enjoyment of satellite service among viewers, among other categories, Discovery said.

Another Discovery network, Military Channel, ranked as the No. 1 mid-sized network mentioned as a favorite channel among men, the company said.

The 2008 Beta Satellite Dish Subscriber study is conducted among a national sample of households who subscribe to DIRECTV or DISH Network.
