NDS3 card not initializing with newcs 1.60 on linux

I have a ND*S3 card and newcs 1.60 can't initialize it. I've tried all speed (3.57, 3.68 and 6.00 MHz) but it still doesn't initialize. I have an Infinity usb phoenix in phoenix mode on a linux box (kernel 2.6.25-4) on ttyS0 (native uart, not a usb to serial adapter). I also tried with windows on a friend machine but same result.

And then it goes into a loop trying to initialize the card (3-4 times and then stops). The card never become hot or anything and still perfectly works in the set top box.
boxkey is set to the hex value of the box id in newcs.xml (<boxkey>0865AB02</boxkey>)
Any idea ?

Nope, still nothing.
I bought an Infinity USB unlimited that support 3v cards (in case that's the problem) so I'll give it another try as soon as I have the reader (tomorrow).

So far for me it doesn't work with the Infinity usb phoenix, neither does it work with the Infinity usb unlimited.
I also bought a pcsc reader (Athena ASEdriver IIIe usb) and configure pcscd on linux and used newcs.pcsc but I still have the same error (I used the vendor driver).
I will have access to a OMNIKEY CardMan 3021 by the end of the week and will try with the ccid drivers instead (http://pcsclite.alioth.debian.org/ccid.html) to see if I get better results.
My NDS card is a DirecTV P5 card so my problems and result might not be similar to other NDS problems but I think that if I get this nds card to work my solution will work with all NDS cards. I'll post my result here as soon as possible.

My latest tests with a pcsd card reader (Omnikey Cardman 3021 and Athena ASEDrive IIIe usb) gave me the same result

So for now I have no solution to read a DirecTV NDS3 P5 card.
All my tests no matter what reader I use ends in the same error (and I tried all the available newcs version).

I had problems using my USB phoenix driver under linux until I got a program to initialise it. Try either the stock adusbph program, enclosed, or the modified version i had to use to get my reader initialised. I run it twice, and it could probably be improved, but I just hacked on that program until things worked.

Run eg in /etc/rc.vdr as

There are other programs to initialise phoenix readers around as well, but I don't remember their names off hand. You might try one of the few phoenix utilities for windows as well to figure out what sequence of characters that needs to be sent to it to initialise the reader, if you use a usb sniffer. This is how I got mine working.
