First you will need a "null modem cable" which is a special type of serial cable. Then because I presume your laptop does not have a serial outlet you will need to buy a serial to usb converter, this is available from electronics/computer shops like radioshack or maplin. Be warned though that this convertor works most of the time but not always all the time.

can i buy the USB to SERIAL cable .. and update the receiver normally ??

i have by then usb_RS232 cable and i have instaled it on WinXP systeme succfly bat it is not working wen i have connecting my reciver !
