convert phoenix apollo to openbox

Lucania, I had a lot of trouble converting my Apollo to Openbox.
My problem turned out to be the fact that I was given the wrong FILES.
The wrong files had been posted for my box which was the Mc+Ci. The file I was given was only for a Mc.
I finally found the correct file and everything was so easy.

The only time i have had a connection timeout is when i have had a hardware problem, there is a thread in this section somewhere about this.. You should not need a step by step guide as pobedit is quite easy to use.. To load keys all you need to do is open the latest f3k file, pobedit should open automatically and then just press send in the keys tab.. your reciever should remain on while you do this.. The only other thing i can think of is to make sure you are using the right com port (try them all).. If none of this works it could be more serious, the max232 chips quite often blow on these, i did it with one when removing the null cable while the openbox was on

I was using a laptop to connect so I changed that for another one having exhausted all the other options -and it worked first time.
I think the problem must have been connected to having an older version of the POBedit software on the original laptop which may have been interfering with the .922 software. I tried removing it but didn't solve it -only a laptop which was completely clean solved the issue.

Thanks for all the previous help notes. I have finally managed to convert an Apollo FTA to an Openbox f300. I was unable to do this with a USB to serial converter though, it would go so far and then stop.As soon as I used the serial port proper, away it went ! Now to the next point, it was stated that the box could now be converted to an X800, I have tried using openbox updater and an x800 wsw file but the receiver just goes to 'Boot' and the wsw file doesn't download to the box. Could someone point me in the right direction please ?

AS an afterthought, I downloaded some channels on Hotbird just to check all was working but now cannot do a reset as I have no idea what the f300 password is ! I tried the original 0000 ( and a few others ) Help !

Thanks Kip22 all done now and working fine. I just had trouble finding the f300 to x800 file.
