German media anti-concentration commission KEK has given the go ahead for entertainment channel e8 television.

The new free-to-air service will concentrate on horse racing, music, general sports reports, game shows and quizzes. The channel will be available in digital on Astra (19.2° East), with test transmissions having already commenced on APS Astra Platform Services’ digital package on the frequency 12.480 GHz V (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4).

According to KEK, nationwide cable distribution is also planned along with distribution on the IPTV platform T-Home Entertain operated by Deutsche Telekom and a live-stream on the website

The channel, which until now carried the working title equi8 television, is backed by SpiritON Media Holding. The company already operates the channels SpiritON.tv and meinTVshop.
