French TV exports reach €118.8m

French TV exports reached €118.8 million in 2007, up 3.3% compared to 2006.

According to the common study from National Cinematography Center (CNC) and association for the promotion of French TV programmes TVFI, exports were again boosted by strong documentary sales. Growing for the fifth consecutive year, and up 5.9% compared to 2006, documentary sales reached €30.2 million.

However, animation remains the most-sold genre with €41.7 million revenues, albeit down 2%. Animation is twice as valuable as drama sales, which represented €22 million in revenues.

Geographically speaking, Europe remains the main area for French exports with 75.4% of the total sales. Italy is the first partner, accounting for €17.9 million in acquisitions, up 32.7%, before Germany (€16.8 million) and Spain.
