France : PSB ad revs under €200m?

France Télévisions President Patrick de Carolis (pictured, left) has evaluated that the broadcaster’s ad revenues in 2009, sponsorship excluded, will be between €150 million and €170 million.

De Carolis was in Arles, Southern France, where the French public broadcaster was hosting the Public Broadcasters International meeting.

Such an amount would be significantly inferior to what had been estimated by the Copé commission charged with evaluating the advertising ban’s impact earlier this year.

In Arles, France’s PSB President also exhorted international broadcasters to unite to develop common projects so as to better tackle the current crisis and harder competition. This would include international coproductions, common acquisition projects as well as international agreements in terms of sport rights for instance.
