Can't Upgrade SR-X230 USB

Hi everyone,

I recently switched to StarSat after my older receiver's tuner gave up.

I have an SR-X230 USB and I upgraded it to 1.60 without any problems the first day I bought the receiver. Now, I want to upgrade to "STARSAT - SR-X230USB_V1.62" by Ilir but no way can I do this anymore!

My RS232C cable is OK, I set to factory defaults just in case, it didn't work. Do I have to use a specific RS232 Mode? If yes then which one? I change this but it doesn't work either.

Are you talking about upgrading the firmware or the settings, because I also always upgrade the channel settings through USB?

The thing is, to upgrade the firmware, you need a program to send the "Rom.bin" file and you need to do this when the receiver boots. Can you confirm whether you upgraded the firmware through USB and how you did this, since I haven't seen any program that does this?

Alright, I finally found out that you can upgrade the firmware through USB, no need for COM port, RS232 or connecting to a computer. For those who don't know, and I guess this will work for most USB Star Sat receivers: just put the "rom.bin" file on a USB flash and using the USB menu just find the file and click OK. The receiver will update the firmware and it will reboot.

And oh, you were right! I just didn't think this could be the case for the firmware.
