8.5 m subs to pay-TV, Canal+ excluded
According to the annual CSA round-up about pay-TV channels, 34 % of French households, or 8.5 million, subscribed to a pay-TV offer, Canal+ excluded, by December 31 2007.
It also appears that pay TV channels, whose budgets depend for 52% of revenues from operators vs 80% in 2002, saw their subscription revenues decrease 4% during 2007.
However, ad revenues can still be raised. Thematic channels’ share of TV ad revenues represents no more than 5% while their audience share now reaches 13.2 % of viewing.
