Mega TV’s History in HD

Having launched its linear-channel IPTV service just a few weeks ago, KT is already adding new channels, signing up AETN International’s History HD.

History HD will launch on January 1 2009, broadcasting 100% HD content and fully languaged in Korean. It will join a History HD video-on-demand service already on Mega TV which launched earlier in the year. The VOD service is also available on Mega TV’s rivals SK Broadband and LGtv.

Alan Hodges, vice president and managing director of Asia-Pacific for AETN, said: “History HD debuted in Asia in September, and AETN has moved aggressively since then to distribute the service into other markets. We are very pleased to launch History HD into Korea via Korea Telecom’s MegaTV, the leading IPTV platform in the country.”

History HD debuted in the region in Singapore in September, followed by Hong Kong and Japan. The channel is also carried in the US, the UK and Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland and Hungary.
