Ukraine restricts TV ads

Ukraine has imposed a ban on the advertising of alcohol and tobacco products on television.

The move, which also applies to outdoor advertising, was signed off by the country’s president in April last year.

A last minute bid in parliament (Verkhovna Rada) to have it put back to 2010 because of the effects of the global economic crisis was defeated.
