Cablecom plans catch-up service
Switzerland’s largest cable operator Cablecom wants to offer its customers the possibility of watching full-length TV programmes from public broadcaster SF Schweizer Fernsehen on-demand and after their initial broadcast.
This would enable viewers to consume content of their choice independent of programme schedules, Hans-Peter Nehmer, Cablecom’s head of corporate communications & public affairs, said at the Communication Summit 2009 in Zurich.
According to Nehmer, the catch-up service on the cable network will function in a way comparable to video-on-demand offers on the internet. The launch is planned for later this year. He declined to reveal further details, explaining “we are still in the middle of work.”
