Canal+ going fully digital
Pascale Paoli Lebailly
French pay-TV Canal+ Group is switching all terrestrial sales to Canal+ on digital-terrestrial, accepting no more analogue subs.
All new terrestrial subs will be offered the enriched DTT package that comprises Canal+ Cinema and Canal+ Sport as well as HD services and a DTT set-top box. This all-in-one offer is sold at a price lower than the fee formerly paid for the analogue Canal+ channel.
Canal+’s analogue subscribers, who now represent less than 20% of the subscriber base, will be progressively asked to switch to digital so that all subscribers are on the digital version by the end of 2010.
Canal+ channels are also available on cable, satellite and IPTV.
