Ya son demasiados los rumores y casi son confirmaciones, el que antes de navidad salga a la venta la nueva Tarjeta Criptografica Liberty Card de la cual se espera emule el sistema Nagra 3 ( Nagra Media Access ) de la ROM 142 y ROM 180. Esto ha sido fijado para antes de navidad y ya posteriormente a ésta fecha, justo después se habla de Sky Germany con la Tarjeta Zebra 2. Incluso se han atrevido a poner precios a estas tarjetas que rondan los 100 Euros y evidentemente todas ellas están en estos momentos anunciadas en tierras lejanas. La pregunta es, ¿ Está Nagra 3 en serios problemas ?

The Down side of this News is the Hack has only been forund on the ROM 141 and ROM 181 Original Viewing Cards, The N3 system has be designed around interchangeable ROMs meaning if this Zebra 2 Card opens these Providers as it claims, Nagravision or the Providers will or can switch Roms thus closing this Loophole.

This Card will not work for Cable Users even though they might be using 141 and ROM 181 aswell.



Its something to watch out for over the coming weeks, but I would be very sceptical that first it will be released and secondly how long it will last for !


The last Zebra Card lasted for about a Year giving Mixed results in the early days of N2 untill Emulation took over.


Who Knows what might Happen, but its worth keeping an Eye on it

Today we got confirmation from some guys in the scene that one of this cards is on the newcamd servers with PPV from Sky Deutschland.

There are two options on this:

1. It's the ND$ MOSCing which is running since a year now on some servers but never went public.

2. The Atmel based cards from Nagra have been hacked so far.
This second possibility is the one claimed by Zebra 2 but... there is a but... there are some mismatching technical issues.
Nagra has 2 kind of cards. ST MCU based (ROM 142 etc...) is use for TV Cabo, Polsat etc. Those cards are in place on native Nagra countries. Then there is the ATMEL based cards like Sky Deustchland, Digital + known as ROM 180. Atmel cards are used in tunneled systems like Seca or Irdeto.

Both cards ST and Atmel used an embedded ASIC which cannot be dumped as Flash/ROM + EEProm can be on a normal card. This is a kind of PKI or Crypto Processor and the functions inside cannot be discovered so easily if the hacker cannot reverse the logic inside the silicon.

The consideration on the above senteces are quite simple:

1. The Hacker must have knowledge of the ASIC functions to make sure this system is long term hacked.
2. ST and ATMEL cards have different ASICs for different card distribution. Dish Network and Bell Vu both are based on ST but using different ASICS. This can also be for ATMEL based cards.
3. What is weird is that they claim they have Sky Deutschland and TVCabo which is in contrast with the general concept that hacking ST card is equal to hacking Atmel cards. This sounds very very strange. Both cards cannot have the same software bugs (maybe at Nagra they have dummies but I doubt).
4. Some blogs claims that a software bug has found on both cards (very tough) and those bugs have found from ROM 141 and ROM 181 (never existed in Nagra).

What I take for granted is that someone put PPV in sharing this is quite sure all the rest will be on November 10th when they will release such Zeta 2.

I think about a better name for this card Köol card

N3 has been hacked quite some time ago, but you should keep in mind, for people that read a bit what's going on lately , even in Belgium, the "authors" of the Premiere-Card (bc/irdeto) that were going round in 2006-2008 to watch have just been find with a 2 MILLION EURO FINE, estimated on their sales of the card. In short, they can start selling their houses, cars, belongings and live on the street.

So these people hack and then money comes to play, now dragoncard, zebra card, etc ... so do you really want to run the risk ? Is it worth the trouble ? If you would sell 10000 cards, at 150 euro with a net profit of 120/card, making it 1.200.000 euro (and believe me selling 10.000 cards is already A LOT!) and you are like 2 ,3 or 4 people, so each taking a share of 600/400/ or 300.000 euro ... nice money you would think, untill you hit the brick and you get fined 2 million euro , and that was an estimate by the judge for selling cards at 75euro. SO doublie it, and you ll get fined 4 million euro , but you made 300.000 ..... do the math ....

So if you, in you'r attick, with all your computers and knowledge, hack an ecryption system.... and you would, like a hobbyist would, share it with someone, that shares it with someone else, the chain will always encounter someone who's gonna try to make a buck out of it ... but in the end , the HOBBYIST who actually hacked it, will pay the big price.
