Brier Tucket and Luke Falcon are an attractive young couple who fall in love at first sight. Unfortunately, neither Luke nor Brier capitalize on their emotions – something they soon regret. Fate will bring them together once again, but will they pass up a second chance at love? Brier is a New Yorker struggling to make a name for herself in the modelling industry; Luke is a musician visiting his brother, Euan, before heading back to his native Los Angeles. While on the subway, and almost immediately before departing for LA, Luke bumps into Brier; instantly the two are mesmerized with each other, but for some reason neither do as much as even exchange numbers. The lovely, yet uncomfortable moment is sealed in the couple’s minds when Luke throws his winter gloves for Brier to keep just as the subway’s doors close. Time passes. Luke continues pursuing his musical career in Los Angeles, playing at various small clubs in the area and dreaming of stardom. Meanwhile, in New York, Brier begins doubting her prospects as a model, opting instead to pursue dancing. Later, once settled in the city of angels, she will find her true calling as an actress. One night while clubbing with friend and fellow acting student Clea she randomly attends one of Luke’s performances. Recognizing Brier, Luke calls his anonymous crush from the stage, and later formally introduces himself to her. Both girls agree that the young singer is talented, but after a bad experience with a British rocker, Brier has vowed to never date a musician again. Obviously Luke is disappointed with her decision, but Brier has no intention of abandoning him. Rather than pursue a platonic relationship with Luke, the aspiring actress, along with Clea use their industry contacts to jumpstart the young musician’s career. With some obsessive guerrilla marketing the two ladies land Luke a record contract; he is an overnight sensation who is destined for international stardom. Despite Brier’s vow to never date a rock star, she is frequently tempted. Tensions rise further when Luke scores a hot Brazilian model as a companion. While both are scared to commit to each other, their friends and associates are convinced that they are perfect for one another. Will Luke and Brier overcome their fears, or will they make a decision both will regret? This movie is rated PG-13 for sexual material including dialogue, partial nudity, language and drug content.

10 Things I hate About You

She Can Only Date When Her Outcast Sister Does 10 Things I Hate About You is a loose adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. Cameron James, the new kid at Padua High School, is an audio-visual geek and former leader of a clique of future MBAs. During the tour, Cameron spots the beautiful and popular Bianca Stratford and is immediately smitten with her. Michael warns that Bianca is shallow, conceited, and worst of all, not allowed to date. Cameron starts tutoring Bianca, but he fails to ask her out, as she informs him of her father’s rule “Bianca can only date if her sister Kat is dating”. This news motivates Cameron and Michael to set out to find a boy who is willing to date Kat. Cameron suggests Patrick Verona, an outcast who is just as ill-tempered as Kat, and tries asking Patrick for his assistance, but Patrick scares him off. Joey, also attempting to date Bianca, pays Patrick to date Kat. Kat, however, wants nothing to do with Patrick. Cameron and Michael finally explain their situation to Patrick and inform him that Bogie Lowenstein is throwing a party. At the party, Kat tells Joey to stay away from her sister, but he refuses. Kat gets upset and begins drinking, leading her to dance drunkenly on a table. Meanwhile, Cameron discovers that Bianca was using him to find a date for Kat so that Bianca could date Joey. Cameron decides to stop trying to date Bianca, but Patrick convinces him to go for it. Bianca asks Cameron for a ride home after discovering Joey’s true character. Cameron drops her off and tells her that he really likes her and was very disappointed in her. At that point Bianca kisses Cameron. Patrick brings Kat home, and she drunkenly tries kissing Patrick. He suggests they should do that some other time, hurting Kat’s feelings. The next day at school, Patrick publicly asks Kat’s forgiveness, they both realize that they truly do like each other. Patrick, motivated by Joey's bribe of $300, asks Kat to the prom. However, she is suspicious of his motives and they get into a fight. Bianca tries to convince her father to let her go to prom, but he refuses, since Kat isn’t going. Bianca confronts Kat. Kat then reveals that she dated Joey. Bianca and Kat end up going to the prom with Cameron and Patrick. Joey is furious to learn that Bianca has gone to prom with Cameron, and confronts Patrick about the "arrangement" in front of Kat. Kat blows up at Patrick and leaves. The next morning, Bianca thanks Kat for going to prom and the sisters make up. Kat's father allows her to go to Sarah Lawrence. At school, Kat reads a poem which she wrote for English class, titled "10 Things I Hate About You" (written about Patrick). In the parking lot Kat finds a guitar Patrick bought her with the money Joey paid him. Kat forgives Patrick, and the two kiss and make up. This movie is rated PG-13 for crude sex-related humor and dialogue, alcohol and drug-related scenes, all involving teens.

    Bee Movie

Have you ever wondered what goes on inside a beehive? Did you know a secret world lies within it, where insects work from 9-5 just like us? Meet Barry B. Benson, a young bee fresh out of college and ready to join the workforce. As you might guess, the most popular career path for a bee is to make honey, and Barry is eager to begin his first day on the job. When he arrives and meets his supervisor, however, Barry has second thoughts. Sitting amongst his colleagues, Barry realizes that his entire life will be spent performing one tedious, mindless task. Determined to escape this mundane fate, he joins the Pollen Jocks, a colony of bees who spend their lives outside of the hive, pollinating flowers across the land. But this task eventually bores Barry, and he sets out to explore the city of New York instead. While exploring, he enters a family’s home and is almost swatted dead by the house patriarch. Fortunately, a compassionate florist named Vanessa Bloome rescues him, opens the window, and lets Barry fly away to freedom. Vanessa’s kind gesture touches Barry’s heart, and he feels obliged to reenter her house and thank her. At this moment he breaks a sacred bee rule: not to speak with humans, ever. Naturally when Vanessa hears him speak she is astonished and listens in disbelief. With time though the two form a most unlikely friendship and Barry accompanies his human savior wherever she goes. All is well until a visit to the local grocery store shocks Barry. While buzzing down an aisle he notices jars filled with honey, packaged for human consumption. Barry is devastated when he realizes his comrades’ lives are wasted away only to supply humans with food. Without haste he begins organizing with other bees and files a lawsuit against humanity, demanding that they cease using bees as slave laborers. Barry’s efforts to liberate his species will prove successful, but the cost may be too much for both the human and insect world to take. Bee Movie was a tremendous success. With a generous budget of $150 million it garnered a whopping $366 million at box offices. The picture also managed to score two Kids Choice Award nominations, in addition to a Golden Globe nomination. A lively soundtrack includes the likes of Sheryl Crow and sixties group The Archies. The movie is rated PG for mild suggestive humor and a brief depiction of smoking.

Bertram Pincus is a man whose people skills leave much to be desired. When Pincus dies unexpectedly, but is miraculously revived after seven minutes, he wakes up to discover that he now has the annoying ability to see ghosts. Dr. Bertram Pincus doesn't like people very much. In fact, the antisocial dentist does everything he can to avoid interaction with other human beings. Unfortunately, he gets more than he bargained for when he is released from the hospital after undergoing a standard procedure: he can see dead people, and they can see him. Suddenly, every ghost in New York City wants Pincus to help clean up their unfinished business. Dapper Frank is the most persistent ghost, badgering Pincus to help keep his widow, Gwen, from making a big mistake. Ricky Gervais is perfect as Pincus, whose deadpan expressions make obvious his disdain for people. His comic timing is spot on throughout the film. Greg Kinnear makes Frank likable, not an easy feat since he apparently wasn't such an upstanding guy when he was alive and married to Leoni's Gwen.

College sweethearts Tom and Kate both dreamed of having both fulfilling careers and a huge family. But after they had a few kids, Kate gave up her career as a sportswriter, Tom abandoned his hope of becoming the coach of their alma mater's football team, and they moved their brood from the city to the country. Now, after 12 children and a happy life in rural Illinois, Tom has been offered the chance to live his dream and coach the Stallions. No sooner does the family pack up and move to Chicago to pursue Tom's dream job than Kate's ship comes in as well: a publisher has picked up her manuscript based on her experiences raising 12 children. Of course, there's a hitch. Kate has to go to New York for a few days, leaving Tom as the primary caregiver for his clan. With all hell breaking loose at home, Kate on the road, and Tom’s job on the line, the Baker family ultimately chooses not to have it all, but to love what they do have. The Foot Fist Way

Fred Simmons (Danny R. McBride) is a small-town karate instructor who owns and operates a strip mall dojo. In general, Simmons' students idolize their teacher despite his obvious lack of skill -- and in some cases human decency. As the sole Taekwondo 'expert' in the city however the wannabe sensei feels important, partially because his pupils have no superior alternative to compare him to but mostly because he is well -- a total jerk. While Simmons may have control over his dojo he has no control over his adulterous, spandex-obsessed wife, Suzie (Mary Jane Bostic). Their already crumbling relationship reaches its nadir when Fred learns that Suzie is two-timing her husband while at work; adding insult to injury, he discovers that her business documents are nothing more than photocopies of her bare breasts and derrière. The relationship eventually comes to a screeching halt and she is booted from Fred's home. The breakup leaves the instructor extremely bitter, causing him to belittle and punish his students in retribution. Faithful customers flee from the business in frustration, while potential members are sexually harassed, insulted, and subsequently scared away. In order to raise Fred's spirits, he travels to meet his lifelong hero, fellow pseudo-professional martial artist and B movie star Chuck 'the Truck' Wallace (Ben Best). Unfortunately the meeting is more damaging than therapeutic; a glimpse into Chuck's everyday life reveals a troubled alcoholic, womanizer, and overall mess. Rather than allow this discovery to drag Simmons deeper into depression he uses it to confront his fears and character flaws. He invites Chuck to his dojo for a public fight, with an audience comprised of his students and adversaries -- namely Suzie. Fred's greatest opponent is not another man though, but his own ego. Whether or not the faux-sensei can defeat Wallace or reverse years of distasteful behavior remains to be seen, however laughs and numerous awkward moments are guaranteed. The Foot Fist Way was filmed on a shoestring budget and unearthed by Will Ferrell who claims to have watched the movie more than 20 times. One might describe it as a mash up of Napoleon Dynamite and Anchorman. The picture earned a modest $245 thousand in theaters, triple its $79 thousand cost of production and rendering it a commercial success. That does not account for home media sales and rentals however, where its cult status is most apparent. Rating: Rated R for strong language and some sexual content

    Friends With Money

Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) lives in West Hollywood, an affluent section of Los Angeles. She's beautiful and smart, and accompanied by a series of well-to-do friends. Franny (Joan Cusack) is the first amongst them, a stay-home mom with a considerable fortune in the bank. She is a self-proclaimed philanthropist whose intentions, most likely, are motivated more by flaunting her wealth than caring who truly benefits from it. Christine (Catherine Keener) works at home alongside her husband David (Jason Isaacs) as a screenwriter. Collaboratively they have raked in big bucks over the years, though recently the duo has hit a creative slump. While they sit face to face each day, with their computers back to back, Christine and David spend more time fighting than writing. The last of Olivia's pals, Jane (Frances McDormand) is a snippy fashion designer experiencing a prolonged bout of depression. As a result (and to everyone's hygienic displeasure) she has vowed never to wash her hair. Her husband, Aaron (Simon McBurney) is similarly tuned into the fashion world; he's also incredibly effeminate, causing people to doubt his heterosexuality. It doesn't help that gay men hit on him. Aniston's character exists in the midst of all of this – an oddball who's not rich, sophisticated, or particularly glamorous in comparison to her three friends. At one time she taught at a prestigious school, but resigned after students began tossing quarters at her. Now she works as a maid while her boyfriend, Mike (Scott Caan) accompanies her to various homes, insistent upon having sex in each one. His 'service' of course means he gets a share of Olivia's earnings. When she's not cleaning homes or out with the girls she's rolling a joint. Yet something keeps Olivia bound to these eccentric folks, and they welcome her with equal fervor. Perhaps they see another shallow companion in the making – if only she had a husband of equal superficiality. Friends With Money is an independent film with a meager $6 million budget. It managed to earn more than $18 million however, deeming it a fairly impressive success. The soundtrack features topically appropriate songs by songstress Rickie Lee Jones. Rating: Rated R for explicit language, some sexual content, and brief drug use.

    Ghost Town

    Cheaper by the Dozen

Growing pains? They've got twelve of them! In modern America, where the average family has 1.87 children, Tom Baker and wife Kate have decided that life is better, if not cheaper, by the dozen as they attempt to deal with their massive brood of twelve. Can Tom hold it together with his kids--who didn't want to move in the first place--pulling him one way and the university pulling him the other?

    Duane Hopwood

David Schwimmer plays Duane Hopwood, a struggling alcoholic whose addiction has taken over his life. When the father of two is arrested for driving while intoxicated, with his young daughter in the backseat, Duane is on a downward spiral that destroys both his career and marriage. With his license revoked, the shamed dad must pedal to work each day on bicycle, rain or snow. Worse yet, wife Linda, has filed for divorce and full custody of the children. The judge, taking into account Hopwood’s poor decision making the night of his arrest, in addition to his years of alcoholism, grants Linda both requests. Despite Duane’s faults, he is a genuinely loving husband and caring father, whose depression intensifies without the companionship of Linda or the kids. A resident of Atlantic City, he works at Caesar's Palace as a pit boss, overseeing dealers and mediating customer disputes. His supervisor, Carl is a fatherly figure with a good heart. However when Duane pacifies a customer’s complaint with the casino’s cash, Carl must reluctantly terminate his employment. This, inevitably, results in increased dependence on the bottle. He finds some solace in the companionship of Anthony, a former coworker and aspiring comedian. Approaching his 40s, the wannabe comic’s chances of stardom grow less likely by the day, and mom has finally decided her son must move out. With Hopwood strapped for cash, and Anthony in search of new accommodations, the two quickly become roommates. Duane’s less than ideal living arrangement and outright misfortune, of which he is solely to blame, fail to change his behavior. He continues to frequent the local bar, though he has found a new female acquaintance: Gina, a bartender who attempts to rehabilitate the wino. She is perhaps one of the few who can tolerate Hopwood’s relentless self-pity, as he laments his divorce, loss of child custody, and Linda’s intolerable new boyfriend, Rob. Next-door neighbors Fred and Wally appear sympathetic to Duane, inviting the lonely bachelor over for Thanksgiving dinner. Unfortunately their act of kindness invokes sadness, as he remembers his former family, and the joys of the holidays. Throughout all of this alcohol abuse is never romanticized, and the chances of Duane undergoing a miraculous recovery, as would happen in similar films, is doubtful. Nevertheless Duane Hopwood does contain moments of hope and laughter, yet never in exchange for the harsh realities of the protagonist’s disease.

However, the next day, Simpson reveals that there is not going to be a merger. Ryan loses most of his own, and much of his clients' money in light of the news. Simpson, then, tells Ryan that he screwed him over because Ryan was sleeping with his wife. Ryan, now near bankrupt, sells his possessions and moves in with Cindy. Ryan tries to get another job at another brokerage, but his license is revoked. Cindy, who works at a small newspaper as an advice columnist, tells him that she is leaving for Brazil with another man. Ryan lies to the editor Page and takes over the column, under Cindy’s name. He makes a real effort and begins giving good advice to the people writing in, and the column turns into a huge hit and Page's newspaper begins to sell more and more across the city. Simpson, who now wants Cindy's column for his own paper, is interested in buying. She moves to Simpson's company, but she fails to give the compassionate advice that Ryan was offering, and soon Simpson's stock plummets. The Family Stone

The Stones are a loving liberal household whose members congregate from all corners of the county each Christmas. Kelly is the patriarch of the family, a college professor who doesn’t mind sharing a joint with his filmmaking son, Ben. Sybil is an unconventional mother hiding a saddening secret from her offspring – though the children begin to prematurely sense her distress. Everett is their eldest son who intends to propose to his long term girlfriend Meredith at the annual holiday gathering. Amy, the eldest daughter, is a schoolteacher and faithful listener to National Public Radio; she has met Meredith already and developed a negative opinion of her, which she relays to her family. Susannah is the youngest female sibling, an immature mother of a young girl named Savannah who is expecting to deliver another child soon. Thad is the other son: a deaf homosexual who is considering adopting a child alongside his African-American boyfriend Patrick. Meredith is a conservative businesswoman whose uptight ways immediately leave a bad taste in the liberal family’s mouths. As she struggles to win the Stones over, Meredith inevitably appears more awkward, becomes nervous, and fumbles her first meeting with Everett’s parents at each step. Bewildered, she summons her sister Julie to smooth things out and accompany her through the visit as Meredith opts to stay at a hotel rather than the Stones’. Everett and his family are shocked to meet Julie, Meredith’s seemingly opposite sibling who unlike her sister, fits in perfectly with the family – perhaps a little too perfect. As the visit passes each member of the family, as well as Julie and Meredith, laugh and cry until each ultimately finds happiness. Revolutionary Road

Author Richard Yates penned his popular novel Revolutionary Road in 1961; immediately film studios were interested in adapting it to the big screen, though debates about the project's execution and profitability stalled its creation for decades. Once a screenplay had been developed in the 90s, an already ailing Yates deemed it unsuitable; his death soon thereafter lessened the prospects of a film adaptation even further. Fortunately, the writer's wife eventually agreed to a screenplay by Justin Haythe, one that she believed remained faithful to her husband's original work. Revolutionary Road features Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Frank and April Wheeler, a thirty-something suburbanite couple from Connecticut. Both have forfeited their dreams and conformed to 50s American social norms, believing that happiness would subsequently follow. Instead their lives increased in monotony: April's acting ambitions are crushed, and Frank's job hawking office equipment leaves him angry and unfulfilled. The birth of two children completely destroys any hope that the couple had of pursuing unconventional paths in life. A glimmer of hope appears however when April suggests selling the couple's home, withdrawing their savings, and relocating to Paris. There she hopes to find work as a secretary or translator, while Frank takes time to search for a profession he truly enjoys. Although he is initially hesitant, Mr. Wheeler eventually agrees to the idea, devastating best friends Milly (Kathryn Hahn) and Shep Campbell (David Harbour). April's plans are halted when Frank receives a rewarding promotion at work, one that proves less tedious than his former routine. Infidelity eventually drives the couple even further apart, as both realize that they were in love with the prospects of a picturesque American life, but not each other. Revolutionary Road marks DiCaprio and Winslet's first pairing since 1997's Titanic, though this time in a vastly different dynamic. The picture was a critical and commercial success, earning a Golden Globe and three Oscar nominations. At the box office ticket sales totaled $75 million, effortlessly recuperating its $35 million budget. Its soundtrack features songs by The Ink Spots, The King Cole Trio, Art Blakey and many other popular 50s artists. Rating: Rated R for explicit language and some sexual content/nudity
