    I Me Wed

For the past five years Isabelle Darden (Erica Durance) has witnessed nearly all of her friends get married. Her mom, Lillian (Janet-Laine Green) and best friend Amy (Cara Pifko) relentlessly pressure Isabelle to find a good man – even if it is merely a boyfriend. While the thirty-year old does date frequently, she rarely meets the same man twice, continuously changing boyfriends like pairs of socks. Yet one can somewhat understand her position. Isabelle makes a respectable living buying old homes, restoring them, and then selling them for much more than she initially paid. She has a nice apartment, car, and wardrobe; intimacy can be obtained as well, via an occasional one-night stand or two. While Amy and Isabelle's other girlfriends are marrying for money or stability, she has already obtained both. Why bother? After being nagged for years, forced into horrible blind dates, and listening to one lecture after another about the merits of marriage, Isabelle finally accepts her fate. She has not exactly changed her opinion however. When wedding invitations reach family and friends they are astonished to discover that the groom is – Isabelle! Indeed, she intends to marry herself, perhaps ending a half-decade of nonstop harassment from both Lillian and Amy; more importantly though, Isabelle will prove to the world that neither marriage nor a man are prerequisites for lifelong happiness. Or at least she thinks. When a local newspaper covers her story it quickly goes viral, spreading from one media outlet to another. Traditionalists like Lillian are repulsed by the idea, but feminists are fascinated: Isabelle has inadvertently cultivated a twenty-first century sexual revolution. The event is soon spiraling out of control however, and what was once intended to be a small ceremony has transformed into a multimillion dollar media extravaganza, courtesy of a television talk show host who fronts the bill. As this occurs Isabelle meets Colin (Paul Popowich), a modest Harvard graduate who enjoys working construction alongside his father, Roy (Vlasta Vrana). Inevitably the unimaginable begins to occur, and Isabelle falls in love with Colin. In parallel Isabelle begins to realize that her attitude toward marriage was wrong, yet stubbornly continues with the ceremony, possibly forfeiting both her integrity and soul-mate in the process. Erin Brockovich

Julia Roberts portrays real-life activist Erin Brockovich, a struggling single mom who initiated a legal battle with a multibillion-dollar corporation and prevailed. It all began quite simply. Brockovich sought the help of Lebanese-American lawyer Edward L. Masry (Albert Finney) after an automobile collision injured her. To both Masry and his client it seemed like an open and shut case; evidence suggested that the defendant was responsible for the crash, and as such should pay Brockovich for monetary damages in addition to her pain and suffering. To the plaintiff and her attorney's surprise the court thought differently though: Brockovich did not receive a penny. With a mere $16 in her bank account and no job the future seemed bleak, particularly for her three children. Erin's unemployment was not due to lack of effort, but lack of opportunities. If nothing else her reaction to the ruling affirmed the mother's willpower. Since Masry's defense proved inadequate she demanded a job at his firm. With a mere high school education, however, such a position seemed out of reach – if available at all. Initially he declined his client's request. As a result, Brockovich refused to leave the lawyer's office except with a job. Masry eventually caved into Erin's request and hired her as a file clerk. Aside from being scantily clad and foul-mouthed, the new hire performed exceptionally. Still no one would have ever guessed she would uncover one of the most appalling environmental crimes in history. One day while Erin was sorting through various real estate cases she found a file that contained medical documents. Her interest was immediately piqued. Why would a case about home ownership require medical evidence? The documents indicated that the Pacific Gas and Electric Company had purchased the home of an elderly woman named Donna Jensen (Marg Helgenberger), but why? Brockovich gets in touch with Donna, who reveals that PG&E not only purchased the home, but also paid for the woman's medical treatment. Brockovich probes further and discovers that Miss Jensen was a victim of chromium poisoning. Rather than plainly acknowledge responsibility, PG&E paid to cover up the incident fearing that a scandal would erupt. Erin begins interviewing hundreds of the town's residents and gathers medical statistics, discovering that an astounding number of individuals shared Jensen's medical ailments. Circumstantial evidence seems to indicate not only PG&E's complicity in the poisonings, but their awareness of it for years. Now all Brockovich needs is a smoking gun, and it is eventually placed right into her own hands. Julia Roberts was awarded a Golden Globe, Oscar, Teen Choice, and MTV Movie Award for her performance. At the box office the film earned more than $256 million internationally. The soundtrack features songs from female pop artist Sheryl Crow.

    My Life In Ruins

The Most Fun You Can Have Without A Passport Georgia is an American academic who's lost her teaching job in Athens. She's taken a job as a tour guide, but she hates it and it shows: the tourists, mostly American, are bored with history and facts; they want to shop. Every group has a goofy couple, a frat boy, a sullen teen, a feuding couple, divorcées looking for a mate, and a funny guy. This group is no exception, plus there's no air conditioning and a bearded silent driver. Thanks to an unlikely friendship, plus daisies, an ice-cream cone, the history of syrup, and the Oracle at Delphi, Georgia may have a shot at finding her kefi during this four-day tour. In a clash of personalities and cultures, everything seems to go wrong, until one day when an older traveler named Irv Gordon, shows her how to have fun, and to take a good look at the last person she would ever expect to find love with, her Greek bus driver. My Life In Ruins is set amongst the ruins of ancient Greece and Alicante, in Spain, including Guadalest and Javea. This was the first time that an American film studio was allowed to film on location at the Acropolis; the Greek government gave the studio its approval after Nia Vardalos sought permission to film several scenes there. The script is originally by Mike Reiss (The Simpsons, The Simpsons Movie), based on his travel experiences, but it was later re-written by Vardalos after she became involved. This movie is rated PG-13 for sexual content.

    Joe Dirt

As the title character of Joe Dirt, David Spade plays a "white trash" janitor at an L.A. radio station, whose mullet hairdo is just one of many personal oddities that make him the object of much ridicule. And the sanitation gig is just the most recent of Joe's many incarnations during a tumultuous life, which got off on the wrong foot when Joe was abandoned at the Grand Canyon by his parents as a young child. After stumbling into the on-air studio, Joe steadily recounts the sad and comical story of how he cared for himself and journeyed around the country trying to relocate his family, all while being prodded, teased, and eventually embraced by a sarcastic deejay (Dennis Miller) and a rapt listening audience. His travels involve stints selling fireworks, wrangling alligators, riding aloft in a car dealership display balloon, and being held captive by a Silence of the Lambs-style serial killer. Despite numerous setbacks and bruising physical injuries, Joe emerges from each episode with his spirit intact as he searches optimistically for his roots, and eventually for the chance to return to the one place he was accepted -- a rural farm where the girl of his dreams (Brittany Daniel) awaits.

    Johnny English

Johnny English is a comedic take on an almost 40 year history of spy flicks, most notably the James Bond franchise and stars British funnyman Rowan Atkinson as the film’s hero while America’s John Malkovich plays villain, Pascal Sauvage. Johnny English is an underachieving spy working for the MI7, Britain’s internationally known secret intelligence agency. England’s upper-class consider him a simpleton, too incompetent to carry out even the most minor tasks and plan to never assign him a case unless all other agents have been killed, which against all odds indeed becomes a reality. One of the agency’s top spies, Agent One is killed during a case and all MI7 agents attend his funeral to pay their respects. Ordinarily that would be a good thing, however, French villain Pascal Sauvage uses the opportunity to bomb the event and murder all of the nation’s spies – except one. Johnny’s stupidity generally causes him grief, though this time it saves his life. Now the only remaining member of MI7, Johnny is assigned to locate the killer and prevent him from causing any further chaos. Sauvage, a descendant of William the Conqueror is determined to regain his family’s reign of England, and intends to do so by stealing the Crown Jewels. Once Sauvage gains control of the monarch he plans to transform it into a prison, where citizens will essentially perform slave labor. Inevitably Johnny makes mistakes along the way, including losing the Crown Jewels he was assigned to protect. Yet with some help from his assistant, Angus Bough and love interest Lorna Campbell he might just save the kingdom after all. “Johnny English” was shot under a $40 million budget and earned more than $160 million worldwide. Due to the success of the picture many have speculated that a sequel is in the works, and Atkinson himself has hinted at the possibility on more than one occasion. The picture is rated PG for comic nudity, some crude humor and harsh language.

    The End of the Affair

The End of the Affair is a screen adaptation of novelist Graham Greene’s identically titled book published in 1951. Set both during and after World War II, Greene’s work was part biographical and like him the main character, Maurice Bendrix was a prominent author. Bendrix, a married man, had a passionate affair with his mistress, Sarah Miles that lasted approximately two years. However the affair ended abruptly one night while Sarah was visiting Maurice’s home, which was struck by a bomb, and subsequently injured him. In panic, Sarah ran down a flight of stairs, only to find her love bloodied and no longer breathing. She ran back into the bedroom, got on her knees, and vowed to God that if he saved Maurice’s life, she would halt her affair with him, and finally wed her loyal boyfriend, Henry Miles. At that very moment Bendrix miraculously entered the room, yet he was dumbfounded when Sarah ceased all communication with him. It was clear that Sarah still had feelings for Maurice, and he certainly felt the same way. For the years following their breakup Bendrix lived in deep depression and resentment, never able to remove his mistress from memory. Fast forward some years later. Henry has summoned Bendrix’s help, suspicious that Sarah is having an affair with another man. He seizes this moment and hires a private detective, deceitfully claiming that it is for Henry’s best interest. Yet Bendrix intends to use the detective’s findings to win Sarah back, and so the pursuit begins. The sleuth, Parkis alongside his son follow their target, discovering that she is not romancing another man, but visiting Father Richard Smythe, a priest. Bendrix does not hesitate to confront Sarah, diligently attempting to convince her to stay with him. Still, the issue is not whether or not she loves Bendrix; Sarah willfully admits that she has not forgotten about him. Eventually he does persuade her to join him on a weekend vacation, prompting Henry to track both of them down. The result is not necessarily a predictable one. “The End of the Affair” was critically acclaimed, earning 2 Oscar nominations in addition to 4 Golden Globe nominations. The picture is rated R for scenes of strong sexuality.

Once on the ground, Marty meets his teenage mother and accidentally wins her affections, thereby threatening the relationship she’s supposed to form with his father. Now it’s a do-or-never-be-born situation. Marty must repair the damage to history by causing his parents-to-be to fall in love, and with the help of scientist Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown, he must find a way to return to 1985. Back To The Future remains one of the rare family films that enjoyed both critical and box office success, and garnered a permanent spot in the pop-culture lexicon thanks to highly-quotable dialogue.

Birdee Pruitt is a small town Texan girl who migrated to Chicago. During her youth Birdee was considered the most beautiful and popular girl in high school. Unfortunately, she was also known for her snobbery and conceit, a quality amplified after she left for the big city. In Chicago Birdee resides with her womanizing husband, Bill. Although Bill is not the ideal mate, he does pay the bills and allow Birdee to live a fairly comfortable life. However her big city dream transforms into a nightmare when she is invited onto a Jerry Springer-like talk show under the guise that she will receive a makeover. Indeed, she does receive a makeover of sorts – one that would change her life forever. Once on the show Birdee discovers that her best friend has been having an affair with Bill and that he is uninterested in pursuing the marriage any further. Crushed, Birdee decides to return to her humble hometown. However upon arrival she is humiliated: the entire town watched her talk show appearance, and was certainly not sad that the arrogant, big city beauty queen fell from grace. Yet Birdee’s plight is perhaps of lesser importance than her daughter’s, Bernice. Though adult consensus has determined Bill is a creep, Bernice continues to view him as her loving father. This complicates her mother’s relationship with former high school sweetheart Justin Matisse, who Bernice bitterly rejects as a father figure, certain that her daddy will return. Meanwhile the soon-to-be divorcee struggles to find employment in a town where no one is a stranger, and family histories are known by all. It surely doesn’t help that her caseworker at the local unemployment office was a high school foe who asserts, “I don't see a listing here for prom queen.” Nevertheless Birdee does manage to find work at a photo-processing lab, despite ruining numerous rolls of film. Despite settling into their new surroundings, both Bernice and her mother yearn for their former life. Is there any chance that Bill and Birdee can reconcile? This movie is rated PG-13 for thematic elements.

    Accepted

Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long) has hustled through life. His scams, like creating fake IDs, helped line his pockets with cash even without good grades. Academics were never a priority for the teenager, at least not until his high school graduation. Gaines' parents insist that he enrolls in college, reiterating that an education is the key to success. While the teenager loathes the idea of attending a university, he still wants to please mom and dad, and so he begins applying to schools right and left. Yet for each application there is an inevitable rejection. The kid who could con his way into anything has hit an unexpected roadblock. Still Bartleby is desperate to impress his parents, and so he concocts an unbelievable scheme to create a fictional university with guaranteed admittance. Founding the South Harmon Institute of Technology (take note of the acronym the name spells out) was just a matter of creating an acceptance letter, complete with an official school logo and letterhead. The underachiever's parents were elated that a college finally accepted their son. Mom and dad still wanted to know more about South Harmon though, and an Internet search returned zero results. No sweat. Gaines contracts his nerdy best friend, Sherman (Jonah Hill) to create an impressive and convincing website for the make-believe school. When his parents want to visit South Harmon's campus, however, Bartleby's plan seems like it will derail. Or maybe not. The two buds discover an abandoned, rundown mental hospital up for lease and begin renovating it. South Harmon also adds three more similarly pathetic students to its roster: Yale reject Rory (Maria Thayer), Hands (Columbus Short) a former jock, and Glen (Adam Herschman) an all around bonehead. On opening day the school is a success – too big of a success. Hundreds of people stumbled upon the South Harmon website, submitted registrations, and are now ready with their cash in hand. What began as a hoax between friends is now a legitimate school, and after collecting more than a $1 million in tuition, Bartleby is obligated to provide some sort of education – regardless of how futile it may be. Sherman's uncle, Ben Lewis (comedian Lewis Black) becomes the college's dean. Slowly a curriculum is built around self-learning that, despite its outwardly juvenile appearance, begins to rival nearby Harmon university. When Harmon students begin flocking to South Harmon, the distinguished university's dean, Richard Van Horne (Anthony Heald) is determined to shut it down. The future of Gaines' school is in doubt, but don't expect him to throw in the towel just yet. Accepted's soundtrack features a wide range of artists and genres including 80s group Simple Minds (in a nod to The Breakfast Club), Ryan Adams, Weezer, and many more. Filmed under the constraints of a $23 million budget, the picture garnered $38 million worldwide. It earned two Teen Choice Award nominations. Rating: Rated PG-13 for explicit language, sexual material, and drug content.

    Stepmom

Mrs. Doubtfire director Chris Columbus continues to explore the family turmoil of divorce in the tearjerker Stepmom, a story that pits the birth mother against the new mother. Jackie (Susan Sarandon), a one-time book editor, is now the consummate soccer mom juggling the schedules of her two kids in her New York ranch outside of Manhattan. Her ex-husband Luke (Ed Harris), who gets weekend custody of the kids, is living in the city with a woman half his age named Isabel (Julia Roberts), a high-fashion photographer with a strong stylistic sense of "what's hot." Since Luke is always away at work, the burden of getting the kids ready for school when they are with their father falls on Isabel, and she just isn't the nurturing type. The story heats up, however, when Jackie learns that she has cancer. Facing the horrors of medical tests and chemotherapy, she realizes that, should something happen to her, her kids will be left with this irresponsible Isabel as their mother, especially after Luke proposes marriage to her. What ensues is part parenting lesson, part competitive parenting, but 100 percent family bonding, as Jackie must learn to allow Isabel to be part of her world and her family

    The Prince & Me

Prince Edward, despite his royalty, is by most standards your average twenty-something guy. He enjoys racing cars and beautiful girls, a pastime that earns him unwelcome publicity in his native Denmark. Yet despite having what would appear to be the perfect life, Edward yearns for independence; he has a desire to understand what it is like to be a common person. More importantly, he yearns to find a common girl – not merely someone of royal lineage who he may or may not actually love. However he has no idea of how to make his dreams a reality until he stumbles upon the infamous American video series, “Girls Gone Wild” where drunken college girls expose themselves in front of cameras. Naïve, Edward believes that if he travels to an American college campus, in this case one in Wisconsin he will be able to meet loose girls like those in the video. This leads Edward to beg his parents to send him to America and fend for himself the following year; his mother sternly objects, but his father believes it would be a good experience for the pampered prince and sends him on his way. Accompanying Edward on his trip is Soren, the prince’s personal secretary. Upon arriving at the university the two accidentally strike Paige with their fancy car. While Paige does not get a glimpse of Edward (who has now adopted the nickname ‘Eddie’), he does get a clear gaze of her, which would in turn lead to an obsession. Eddie eventually sees his love again at a local bar and makes a rather obnoxious pass at her. Rather than respond similarly Paige has the prince ejected from the building. Yet Eddie will have another shot when the two are assigned as lab partners in their chemistry class. With time, Paige begins to enjoy Eddie’s company and they soon become a couple. Unbeknownst to Paige, and indeed the entire campus is that the foreign exchange student is a prince. Blades of Glory

Blades of Glory is about Chazz Michaels who is a disgraced male figure skater played by funnyman Will Ferrell plays, who has the skill to mesh the seemingly wimpy sport with the actor’s famous frat boy/jock personality, creating a very unusual and entertaining combination. Jon Heder plays Chazz’s antagonist, the effeminate and germophobic Jimmy MacElroy. Both Chazz and Jimmy are banned from professional ice-skating after the two break out in a fight during an awards ceremony. For the years following the incident Chazz performed at children’s events, though after succumbing to obesity and alcoholism he was fired. Jimmy’s interim job at a sporting goods store’s footwear department was no more glamorous, especially after a brat’s complaint relegated him to the stockroom. Fortunately, every cloud has a silver lining; in Jimmy’s case it was an obsessed fan named Hector (Nick Swardson), who stalked the former skater until finding him at work. Desperate to see Jimmy back on the ice, Hector studied the competition’s rules; while Jimmy could never participate individually, he could compete as a pair skater – and so he began searching for a female partner. Jimmy immediately gets in touch with Robert, his former coach played by Craig T. Nelson. Coach Robert searches for a partner to no avail, as Jimmy realizes competition rules do not specify that a pair must be male and female. With that in mind he contacts his longtime rival, Chazz, hoping that both men could revive their careers by skating together. Hungry to skate again, Chazz agrees and preparation for the event begins. With Coach Robert’s help the duo begins training, and struggles to overcome their past differences, in addition to their individual weaknesses. Much more difficult trouble lies ahead, however, as rival skaters attempt to sabotage their comeback, eavesdropping on their practice sessions and even eventually kidnapping Chazz and Jimmy. Professional skating’s Odd Couple must cooperate not just to win, but also to survive. The picture’s soundtrack features a fitting array of motivational and sports-themed music including tracks by Queen, Marky Mark, Aerosmith, and Foreigner. “Blades of Glory” won a Teen Choice Award and was nominated in five additional categories; it also garnered three MTV Movie Award nominations. “Blades of Glory” is rated PG-13 for crude and sexual humor, harsh language, comic violence, and some drug references.

    An Unfinished Life

Unfinished Life is a story of a widower and single mother attempting to escape from an abusive boyfriend whose only refuge is a father-in-law who despises her. Jean Gilkyson is a woman on the run from her obsessed and estranged boyfriend, Gary Winston. Devoid of any other options, Jean flees to her father-in-law’s, Einar Gilkyson, Wyoming ranch with her daughter, Griff. Years prior Jean wedded Einar’s son, Griffin who died tragically in a car accident as they were traveling one late and sleepy night. Einar disliked Jean before the crash occurred, primarily because she extracted Griffin from his native Wyoming to her place of origin. However her possible involvement in his death, whether intentional or not, terminated any potentially cordial relationship between the two. The father-in-law is unaware though that Jean was pregnant with Griffin’s child at the time of the accident, and for years he has had an unknown granddaughter. In some respects, this eases the tension between the two when Einar realizes Griffin was not his final progeny, though he still has not completely forgiven Jean. The widower settles into her new environment and soon meets her father-in-law’s best friend, Mitch. One year ago Mitch was severely injured when both men attempted to rescue a calf from the jaws of a wild bear. Since Einar was drunk during the incident, he feels responsible for Mitch’s condition, and dedicates his life to helping his crippled friend; without Einar’s assistance, Mitch would not be able to survive. Jean finds a job at a local restaurant and begins warming up to Sheriff Crane. While Crane appears to be different from other guys she has dated, Jean lives in fear of former boyfriend Gary, who appears in her life soon again. When Gary makes the long trek to the ranch in search of Jean, a confrontation occurs between him and Einar. After the altercation, Einar demands that Jean clarify precisely what happened on the night of her husband’s death. From this point forward Mitch, Einar, and Jean begin confronting their fears and inner demons so that they can finally move forward. Hope Floats

Naturally Paige discovers Edward’s fib and is less than thrilled, especially after her photo is plastered across international tabloids while in lip lock with him. Wedding Daze

Anderson (Jason Biggs of American Pie notoriety) and Vanessa (Audra Blaser) are the perfect couple, destined to eventually tie the knot. When Anderson musters up the courage to propose, he does so naked, donning only a cupid's arrow and heart. While such a proposal may be appropriate in private, his decision to pop the question in a busy restaurant certainly was not. Before Anderson finishes a sentence Vanessa experiences a heart attack, and drops dead in embarrassment. The following months were filled with sorrow. No woman could replace Vanessa, prohibiting him from pursuing a new relationship. Best friend Ted (Michael Weston) attempts to lift Anderson's spirits and suggests a radical solution: simply propose to a random, attractive woman. He begrudgingly agrees, expecting a firm 'no!' in response. Instead his target, a waitress, accepts his proposal immediately -- much to Anderson's and the entire diner's amazement. Katie (Isla Fisher) is unhappily dating William (Chris Diamantopoulos), and searching for a means to escape the relationship. Marriage to another man, she decides, is the ultimate solution to her woes. Within a day Katie moves into Anderson's apartment and meets his sex-crazed parents: Lyle (Edward Herrmann) and Betsy (Margo Martindale). Despite some minor grievances Betsy and Lyle feel comfortable with their future daughter-in-law. More importantly, Anderson and Katie seem to be compatible partners, especially considering their unorthodox pairing. Things begin to unhinge however when Katie's dad, Smitty (Joe Pantoliano) breaks out of jail to attend the wedding. When the bride makes an offensive comment about Vanessa, Anderson brings the event to a halt. Meanwhile William seizes this discord and attempts to woo Vanessa back into his arms. Is Anderson destined to a life of bachelorhood? Rating: Rated R for sexual content and some explicit language.

    Just Like Heaven

Dr. Elizabeth Masterson is a professional in her late 20s whose biological clock is ticking; between her years as a medical student and later a practicing physician, she simply has not had enough time to take part in the dating scene, much less form a long lasting relationship. While this may seem depressing for some, Elizabeth actually takes some pride in it: a commitment to a man or children would mean sacrificing time from her career, the only thing that matters to her. Our first introduction to the young physician is in a dream sequence, one that she fell into after working 26 hours straight at the hospital. Soon a co-worker wakes her up and we’re returned to reality, where a gunshot wound victim has just entered the emergency room. Intent on impressing her supervisor to win an important promotion, she volunteers to operate on the new arrival; to Elizabeth’s disappointment her co-worker, Brett, is awarded the duty since he has “only been working 13 hours” – still no small sum. Yet her supervisor is impressed by her continued commitment and finally promotes Elizabeth as an attending physician. Elizabeth is elated and quickly, though drowsily heads out the door. Rather than take some much-needed rest, Elizabeth heads to her matchmaking sister, Abby (Dina Waters). Abby believes she has found the doctor’s perfect man, and has arranged for the two to have dinner at her home. As Elizabeth calls Abby and lets her know she is on the way, she slams head on into a large truck and the screen goes black. David Abbot is a successful architect whose wife passed away two years ago. Since then his life has been devoid of any true meaning, and to compensate he pops open a bottle of beer and drinks himself to sleep each night. David has recently moved into an apartment that Elizabeth once occupied. He is shocked when a woman appears pestering him about his cleanliness and demanding that he leave her home. David believes that he must be hallucinating and quickly meets his friend, a psychologist, who merely suggests that David leave the house more often. With time David realizes that he is not hallucinating, and that the woman is Elizabeth’s ghost; for some reason she is not alive, but she is not dead either. Elizabeth has no idea who she is, or how she transformed into this state of limbo, yet with David’s help she attempts to find out. David and Elizabeth meet each other as foes, but as they bond with one another they begin to realize their joining was not coincidental. Along the way the couple experience genuinely emotional moments, but not without occasional laughs. The film proves to be much more than another life after death story and is sure to please. This movie is rated PG-13 for some sexual content.

The Great Buck Howard Troy Gable (Colin Hanks) is a newbie law student who yearns to be a Hollywood screenwriter. Against his father's wishes, Troy secretly leaves school to become an assistant for The Great Buck Howard (John Malkovich), a washed up magician whose popularity peaked in the mid-1970s. Once a frequent guest of Johnny Carson's and a Vegas celebrity, Howard now earns a living performing at small town venues, usually to older audiences. Traveling alongside Howard to cities such as Akron, OH and Bakersfield, CA is not exactly glamorous, especially given the magician's verbal abuse and erratic, grandiose behavior. Nevertheless, Troy is intrigued by Buck and does learn a thing or two about showbiz. Despite accusations from friends and family that Troy is wasting his life and education, he continues to believe in Howard's possible return to stardom. Up and coming New York publicist Valerie Brennan (Emily Blunt) believes that Howard's career can be resurrected too, assuming she can tolerate his insults and diva-like theatrics. Valerie has gathered a dozen of Cincinnati's top media outlets at Buck's latest show, where he intends to send a crowd of 200 individuals into deep sleep. The outcome of the mentalist's performance could propel Howard back into the limelight, or merely solidify his has-been status. Concurrently, Valerie and Troy's business relationship transforms into a romantic affair, though his strange loyalty to Buck could drive them apart. Has Troy truly thrown away his future by joining Howard, or does the experience mark a new chapter in the young man's life? Who is the real Buck Howard, and are his acts purely illusional or truly magical? The Great Buck Howard is loosely based upon real life mentalist The Amazing Kreskin and director Sean McGinly's experience touring with him. Rating: Rated PG for some explicit language including suggestive remarks, and a drug reference.

When Marisa’s son, Ty meets handsome senatorial candidate Christopher Marshall he unintentionally becomes a matchmaker, bonding his simple, low income but beautiful mother with one of New York’s most desirable bachelors. When Ty is not busy at school he accompanies his hard working mother to the Beresford Hotel, where she is employed as a maid. Marisa’s co-worker and friend, Stephanie helps look after Ty, while at same time encouraging his mother to apply for a managerial position at Beresford. Afraid of rejection and subsequent disappointment Marisa is hesitant to apply, but does so nonetheless. Caroline Lane is a guest at the hotel, an annoying, arrogant socialite staying in one of its most expensive rooms. The story swings into action when Caroline orders Marisa to return some of her clothing to a local store, deeming them unfit for her. When the arrogant socialite leaves the room, Stephanie convinces Marisa to try on one of her glamorous dresses, just for kicks. Meanwhile left-leaning republican and likely senatorial candidate Christopher Marshall meets young Ty in the elevator. Marisa’s son shows interest in the politician’s dog; in an attempt to make the boy happy, Christopher offers to let Ty walk the dog with him on a quick jog through New York. Chris and Ty venture into Miss. Lane’s suite just as Marisa dons one of the expensive, elegant dresses. While wearing the dress Marisa definitely does not resemble a maid, but rather the socialite whose room she is actually cleaning. Since Stephanie is beside her tidying up the room Chris naturally believes that he has met Caroline, the famous guest everyone has been gossiping about. The soon-to-be politician is awe struck and asks Marisa to accompany him and Ty on their stroll through New York; flattered, she agrees. From this point forward Mr. Marshall falls in love with the modest maid and requests his advisor to invite her to a gala at the ritzy hotel. Since Marisa never revealed her true identity, Christopher is disappointed when dimwitted Caroline appears at the function instead. Still adamant to find the ‘other’ Caroline he demands that his assistant locate her by any means. Yet can an up and coming politician with a hounding paparazzi risk being photographed with a lowly maid? Will Christopher risk his career for the woman of his dreams? “Maid in Manhattan” was nominated for a Kids’ Choice and Teen Choice award. Despite being panned by many critics, the film was a box office success grossing a worldwide total of $154 million worldwide, earning three times its budget and even more from rentals and DVD sales. Its soundtrack features performances by renowned artists such as The Pointer Sisters, Paul Simon, Diana Ross, and many more. This movie is rated PG-13 for some language/sexual references.

Wedding Daze Anderson (Jason Biggs of American Pie notoriety) and Vanessa (Audra Blaser) are the perfect couple, destined to eventually tie the knot.

In order to accomplish this feat Phil and Charlie purchase a dilapidated, abandoned campground and attempt to renovate it. With some tender, love and care they begin making progress and soon welcome their first batch of campers. Zoom They're going to save the world . . . as long as they're home for dinner Former superhero Jack is called back to work to transform an unlikely group of ragtag kids into superheroes at a private Academy. Together they'll learn to work as a team and save the world from an evil menace set on total destruction. Peter Hewitt's family-friendly adventure film, ZOOM, stars Tim Allen as an aging former superhero who is reluctantly called back on the job. Years ago, Jack was adopted for a government program that capitalized on the oddities of unusual children. Under the influence of super-strength-building Gamma rays, Jack became the lightning-fast Zoom, and joined the Zenith team, a group of other similarly cultivated superheroes that included his brother, Concussion. But Concussion went bad, betrayed his fellows, and Zoom was the only one to survive; since then, he has rescinded his powers. Now the government, alarmed at Concussion's approach from another dimension, wants to put together another Zenith team with Jack as their leader. The officials, including Chevy Chase and Rip Torn, assemble a motley crew of youths that includes a six-year-old "princess" with superhuman strength, and an innocuous-looking chubby boy who can grow parts of his body at will. Two teenagers are also on hand, and they fall in love, while the initially reluctant Jack, who suffered much at the hands of the Zenith team and has since become bitter about the possibility of heroes, begins to open up to the kids. He also finds love with the bumbling, admiring child psychologist who has been assigned to the case. Although the story is somewhat formulaic and the characters thinly drawn, the film's message comes across strongly: the qualities that make a misfit are the very ones that give strength. This movie is rated PG for brief rude humor, language and mild action.

While Henry was away, Marty dropped more than 100 pounds and began to date men half her age. At night she was an uninhibited party animal who drove men of all ages wild. An Albanian playboy named Tommy Lucero (Antonio Banderas) was one of Marty's many admirers. His attractive looks, smooth demeanor, and sexy foreign accent were undeniable turn ons for Henry's mom. Soon a serious relationship developed and the couple was inseparable. The FBI knows Tommy's ugly side however, whose true moniker is Tomas Martinez, an international art thief who has just escaped from a French prison. For months the bureau has been trailing Martinez and now, by coincidence, Henry has established a direct and natural relationship with their target. In essence, agent Durand can go undercover without really being undercover. Since Tommy and Marty are frequently together, the FBI is forced to place both individuals under surveillance. That means Henry must listen to and witness his mother's most intimate and private moments with the thief -- regardless of how uncomfortable it makes him feel. Durand cannot even vent to his wife and fellow agent, Emily (Selma Blair) due to bureau regulations. Worse yet, he cannot warn his mother that she is in love with an internationally known gangster. But he's not discouraged because when you haven't got it, you can fake it! So he steals his grandfather's near-vintage, baby-blue caddy that's just back from the shop. Once the wheels are out on the road, it's no turning back for the teens on the town. Too bad everything that could go wrong does go wrong, as Les's cool evening out becomes his worst nightmare.

Homeland Security Henry Durand (Colin Hanks) refused to follow in the criminal footsteps of his imprisoned father, and opted to become an FBI agent instead. Shortly after becoming an agent for the bureau he left his mother, Marty (Meg Ryan) at home to pursue a three year long investigation. Soundtrack features songs by punk rockers The Lemonheads and funk legends The Ohio Players.

The Nanny Diaries Annie 'Nanny' Braddock (Scarlett Johansson) has just graduated from Montclair State University with a degree in anthropology. Although she is uncertain about her direction, Annie has landed a job interview with a prominent New York bank, and her chances for success seem high. Unfortunately she botches the interview, but is too ashamed to return to her native New Jersey as a failure; she decides that some time away from home to ponder her future might be a good idea. Living by oneself naturally requires money, which Annie does not have. An interesting job opportunity comes her way one day while daydreaming at a nearby park. She witnesses a young boy in a uniform stumble in front of a vehicle certain to face death; the anthropologist jumps to save the child and risks her own life in the process. Unbeknownst to Annie the boy's mother, Manhattan socialite Mrs. Alexandra X (Laura Linney) witnessed the act of heroism. Upon thanking the recent graduate, Alexandra asks the heroine her name, mistakenly hearing the word "nanny." Coincidentally she needs a nanny to look after her son, Grayer (Nicholas Art) and offers Annie the position. She accepts Alexandra's offer, but lies to her parents in New Jersey, leading them to believe their daughter was hired as a banker. At first Grayer's new nanny is elated to stay in the family's extremely posh home -- at least until Alexandra shows Annie her dingy bedroom. Annie has devised a way to benefit from the experience however, glamorous or not. The family's home soon becomes the site of empirical research, where Annie analyzes the lives of New York's upper crust and their associated social dilemmas. What she learns may one day prove to be an invaluable asset to the up and coming anthropologist. The job is no picnic though. Shopaholic Alexandra has an endless list of tasks for the nanny, while her adulterer husband, Mr. Stan X (Paul Giamatti) samples a wide array of women on the side. Grayer is influenced by his shallow parents, and proves to be equally problematic and in desperate need of a meaningful role model. Luckily, Annie has newfound friend Lynette (R&B songstress Alicia Keys) to provide support, and a male love interest upstairs: Harvard graduate Hayden (Chris Evans). Soundtrack features tunes by 80s group Simply Red, George Michael, WAR, and many more. The Nanny Diaries was a box office success, earning twice its $20 million budget. Rating: Rated PG-13 for explicit language.

The Polar Express At 8-years old Hero Boy (voiced by Tom Hanks), like most children his age, is beginning to doubt the existence of Santa Claus. His maturing sense of logic realizes that no sled could possibly hold millions of gifts, much less travel at the speed of light required to deliver them. The idea of an overweight, elderly man climbing down chimneys seems equally implausible. With that in mind he decides to definitively disprove St. Nick's existence and vows to stay awake for the remainder of the night, waiting for the mythical man (not) to arrive. Around midnight the boy's room begins to shake, prompting him to don his robe and run outside to investigate. Unexplainably, a lengthy passenger train has stopped along his neighborhood street, and its conductor (also voiced by Hanks) asks the confused boy to come aboard. The train in question is the Polar Express, a magical railway that transports Santa's skeptics directly to the North Pole. At first he declines the conductor's offer, but swiftly jumps aboard when the train starts moving. Hero Boy is greeted by three other children: Hero Girl (Nona Gaye), a female counterpart of sorts, the impoverished and sad Lonely Boy (Peter Scolari), and the aptly titled Know-It-All (Eddie Deezen), a smart-alecky kid who has a pompous answer for everything. Atop the train's roof is a bizarre hobo who, alongside Hero Boy, literally escapes death by just a few inches before the journey's end. Together the four youngsters discover that reality is not merely shaped by a thing's physical existence or lack thereof, but by one's belief or disbelief in its spirit. The gifts that Hero Boy receives that night, although not material, are enough to last a thousand Christmases. The Polar Express was the first film composed entirely using motion capture computer-animation, a method where real actors' movements are digitally manipulated. It was a commercial and critical success, earning $306 million internationally and 3 Oscar nominations. The picture's soundtrack features traditional Christmas songs such as Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town, White Christmas, and even a holiday track from Aerosmith's Steven Tyler. Rating: G

Daddy Day Camp Charlie and his best friend Phil have mastered the daycare business and hope to conqueror the summer camp industry next. However Charlie's new interest is not rooted in financial benefit, nor is it an altruistic affair. When he learns that his childhood rival Lance Warner has started a camping venture, Charlie is determined to defeat him once and for all. In order to accomplish this feat Phil and Charlie purchase a dilapidated, abandoned campground and attempt to renovate it. With some tender, love and care they begin making progress and soon welcome their first batch of campers. Still, conditions at Camp Driftwood are less than ideal; several new arrivals return home, leaving only the most difficult children behind. Among the troublesome kids are a hillbilly thug, a smart alec girl, and a boy who vomits without warning, and usually on someone. It quickly becomes evident that the guys need help, and so they enlist Charlie's no nonsense ex-military dad, Col. Buck Hinton for the job. Tension builds between the colonel and Charlie, who vividly remembers his rugged dad's disappointment after being defeated by Lance more than 30 years ago. Fearing that history will repeat itself, Charlie attempts to coach his son Ben with extreme gentleness, abandoning his father's abrasive style. Eventually both Ben and his father will discover that success lies somewhere between rigidity and compassion. But more importantly everyone at camp will learn the value of teamwork, self-esteem and perseverance. With all of these skills at hand Camp Driftwood might have what it takes to beat Lance’s Camp Canola at an upcoming Olympiad and Charlie can finally reconcile his traumatic childhood defeat. While Daddy Day Camp did not perform as well at box offices like its predecessor, Daddy Day Care, it was a modest success; with a meager budget of just $6 million it more than doubled its investment, grossing over $18 million worldwide.

Carell adeptly balances his role's humor and heartache, while Binoche is radiant as ever. Comedian Cook shows surprising talent as the third leg of their love triangle. Through his duties as director and co-screenwriter, Peter Hedges deserves much of the credit for creating a film that is sweet without being sappy. This movie is rated PG-13 for some innuendo.

    Back To The Future II

The year is 1985 and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) has just returned from a voyage to the year 1955. Alongside his eccentric friend, Dr. Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) he prevented a catastrophe that would have ended his life before it even began. So when Doc Brown reappears in his famous DeLorean and insists that McFly hop in and blast into the year 2015, the teenager is naturally shocked. After all, he has been separated from girlfriend, Jennifer (Elisabeth Shue) for weeks – unbeknownst to her. No problem the Doc tells Marty, she can come along for the ride too. Doc revs the car up to 88 MPH and takes flight into the future. Biff (Thomas F. Wilson), McFly and his father's nemesis from the previous picture, unintentionally witnesses the launch in bewilderment. Once in transit Brown sedates Jennifer, worried that she may meet her future self, and thus create a potentially irrecoverable time paradox. Marty eventually learns the trip's exact purpose: McFly's future son, Marty Jr., will be coerced into a bank robbery by Griff Tannen, Biff's son. In an attempt to prove his fearlessness, Marty Jr. participates in the heist and is jailed. Jr. McFly's sister, Marlene (also portrayed by Fox) attempts to break him out; instead she is also arrested and imprisoned. If Doc and Marty do not stop the robbery before it occurs the McFly bloodline will cease to exist. Fortunately Marty Sr. thwarts Jr. from joining Griff and the mission is successful – at least he thinks. Before departing McFly enters an antique store and purchases a sports almanac containing all game scores between 1950 and 2000. Before returning to the future with it, and beginning a highly successful gambling career, Doc prevents him on ethical grounds, and throws the book into a trashcan. Unfortunately Biff sees Doc toss the almanac. He also recognizes the time-traveling DeLorean from 1985, realizes its monetary possibilities, and steals both the car and the book. Biff returns the DeLorean before Doc and McFly realize that it had ever moved, and they come back to the present with Jennifer still quietly asleep. Something about the neighborhood is different though, and Marty finds himself dodging bullets in a dystopia ruled by Biff. He reconnects with Doc and both men realize their most difficult task still lies ahead. Back to the Future II, like its predecessor was an undeniable smash earning more than $331 million internationally. The picture was nominated for an Oscar and won a Kid's Choice Award. It soundtrack features recognizable 50s and 80s tunes from artists like Michael Jackson, Sammy Hagar, and Perry Como.

Material Girls is a teen comedy that centers around Ava and Tanzie Marchetta who are rich, spoiled sisters. Their late father founded a cosmetics empire, allowing them to live a dream life complete with a Los Angeles mansion, hot car, endless new clothes, and their every desire fulfilled. Ava, the shallow older sister, is newly engaged to a B-list television star, and Tanzie is busy completing college applications so she can follow in her father's footsteps creating healthy new skin products. Since their father's death, his best friend, Tom Katzenback, has run the company, while the girls have remained the face of Marchetta Cosmetics, paying little attention to the details, and just popping into the office occasionally to say hello or make a decision about a charitable contribution. Understandably, the sisters are shocked when Tom tells them that the company is failing and that they should consider an offer from their father's arch enemy, Fabielle. Things really hit rock bottom when a scandal further rocks the company, the girls find themselves destitute, and their father's reputation is run through the mud. Abandoned by their fabulous friends and left with no corporate credit cards and no place to go, these girls have two choices: get jobs or find a way to clear their father's good name and save Marchetta Cosmetics. What will they choose? Just hold on to your seats and watch.

    Son Of Rambow

Will Proudfoot (Bill Milner) is the member of a strict religious community in rural England that forbids television, music, and dancing. The prohibition on television even extends to educational films. When his class views a documentary one day, he excuses himself and waits in the hallway until the movie ends. In that hallway he is rudely introduced to school terror Lee Carter (Will Poulter) who promptly tosses a ball at Proudfoot's head. He misses but breaks a fishbowl instead. Carter agrees to take the blame, but stipulates that Will must perform stunts in his home movie remake of First Blood as a favor. He reluctantly agrees. Lee's brother Lawrence (Ed Westwick) operates a small video bootlegging business, and as such owns some video equipment, including an early 80s, large and cumbersome VHS camera. The two boys begin filming their low budget film, Rambow (the misspelling is unintentional). Soon these polar opposites form a genuine friendship, but must hide it from Will's mother, Mary (Jessica Hynes) who would shun the relationship, and especially Will's budding interest in filmmaking. This strange relationship is interrupted when a group of French exchange students headed by Didier Revol (Jules Sitruk) arrive. Didier and his pals would like to join the production, but the older peers begin to overtake the entire project. More specifically, Proudfoot is slowly pushed to the sidelines and into irrelevancy. Now to salvage both Lee's film and friendship with Will he must act quickly and intelligently; in parallel, Will must at some point confront his domineering, puritanical mother. Regardless of Rambow's destiny an unforgettable summer is certain to ensue. Son of Rambow's soundtrack features a number of complementary 80s tunes by Britpop artists like Gary Numan, Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Cure and many more. Rating: Rated PG-13 for some violence and reckless behavior.

    Margot at the Wedding

Margot and Pauline are two estranged sisters who attempt to bury the hatchet over one weekend. Pauline is a schoolteacher set to marry her bohemian boyfriend, Malcolm. The family is unsure why Pauline is attracted to the chubby, unemployed man, but nevertheless agrees to attend the wedding and show their support – no matter how insincere. Initially it is unclear why the two sisters dislike each other so fervently. Yet as the film progresses one realizes that both are equally dysfunctional, and this by itself fuels their rivalry. Pauline and Margot futilely attempt to outshine the other, hiding behind façades such as a successful career, an intelligent son or daughter, or a seemingly happy marriage. In reality nothing for either of the women is picturesque for Margot she appears to be a successful writer living with her similarly industrious husband, Jim and their 11-year-old son Claude. Outwardly their marriage appears perfect, yet tension is building internally. Margot has asked Jim to stay behind in New York City, partly because she is sick of him, but mostly so she can rendezvous with Dick, a colleague and former boyfriend. In light of the above, Margot’s qualms with Malcolm and Pauline’s upcoming marriage are hypocritical. Despite her infidelity and hatred of Jim, Margot somehow believes that she is superior to her sister, when in fact the opposite may be true. Although Malcolm may not be successful or overly attractive, that does not negate the possibility of a successful marriage to Pauline. Still, Margot attempts to discredit her sister, specifically when she discovers Pauline is already pregnant with Malcolm’s baby. Not only is the bride to be making an unwise decision in Margot’s eyes, but she is also a whore. Of course, Margot does not see herself in the same light – despite her intent to hookup with Dick that same weekend. Perhaps there is a feeling of resentment on Pauline’s part as well, since she has continued living in her parents’ home long after Margot migrated to New York. In contrast, this provides Margot with additional ammunition in the sisters’ egotistical battle. Still Pauline can tout her practical and stable vocation in education; at the same time Margot can react to her sister’s profession with contempt – after all, being a creative writer in the big city is more glamorous. This sibling rivalry makes the meat of the picture, though other entertaining distractions do exist. One of those include the family’s angry neighbors, who demand that Pauline cut down a tree that is supposedly on their property line. Whether or not she plans to grant this request is unclear, especially since it will be an important prop during the wedding ceremony. Meanwhile, Malcolm finds himself strangely enchanted by his soon to be stepdaughter’s babysitter. While Margot at the Wedding was not a blockbuster, it did win the attention of a few notable critics. At least 3 prominent reviewers across the United States declared it among their top 10 best movies of 2007. The picture’s soundtrack features familiar names such as the Steve Miller Band, Blondie, Alice Cooper, Fleetwood Mac and many more.

Oscar And Lucinda At an early age Oscar Hopkins (Ralph Fiennes) parted ways with his father, denouncing a puritanical form of Christianity and instead accepting the Church of England's. He was an avid student of theology who, even in more liberal surroundings, was considered somewhat of a heretic by his peers. More specifically, Hopkins' colleagues were outraged by the clergyman's fervor for gambling and his ardent defense of its religious permissibility. Oscar argued that faith in God itself was a gamble, and that wagering on a racehorse or card game was no different. Hopkins eventually grew tired of England. In search of both a fresh flock and new experience, the theologian decided to migrate to what was then a new British colony: Australia. While in transit he meets Lucinda Leplastrier (Cate Blanchett), a glassmaker and Outback native visiting England to buy machinery for her recently acquired business. On the surface the pair appear to be an incompatible couple: Lucinda is wealthy and assertive while Oscar is poor and timid. Despite that, both reject society's expectations of their respective roles and subsequently find a common ground. Oscar achieves this with an unorthodox approach to ministry; Lucinda adopts a feminist worldview, a unique stance for women in the nineteenth century. They also share a love of gambling, and ignore those who shun their morally ambiguous pastime. Though Hopkins loves Lucinda, his timidness impedes him from bluntly saying so. That changes when the Reverend Dennis Hasset (Ciaran Hinds) begins to court Lucinda. To win the businesswomen's affection Oscar must appeal to her favorite vice, wagering not just money but his heart and soul in the process. Oscar and Lucinda was nominated for an Academy Award. It is based upon the acclaimed, identically titled novel by author Peter Carey. Rating: Rated R for a scene of sexuality, and for brief violence.

    Dutch

Ed O'Neill (of Married With Children notoriety) portrays Dutch Dooley, a working class Chicagoan dating recent divorcee Natalie Standish (JoBeth Williams). At a ritzy dinner with Natalie's former husband in attendance, Dooley volunteers to drive the couple's teenage son home for Thanksgiving. Snooty dad Reed (Christopher McDonald) deems Dutch too incompetent, though mom seizes the opportunity for the two to bond. Natalie and Reed's son, Doyle (Ethan Randall) attends and resides at an expensive private school in Georgia. The youngster's peers dislike him, disgusted by Doyle's conceit for others -- a trait inherited from Reed, whom he idolizes. Dutch's initial meeting with his potential stepson is disastrous; rather than a cheerful welcome, Doyle attacks Dooley with a swift kick to the face, followed by shots from a pellet gun. The brat is quickly subdued however, lugged unwillingly into Dutch's car. Doyle resents visiting his mother, hoping instead to accompany Reed on a supposed business trip to London. By his father's instruction, Doyle holds Natalie responsible for the couple's horrible separation; Dutch is merely a victim by association, though his blue collar upbringing repulses the boy similarly. Dooley's attempt to earn Doyle's friendship appears hopeless at first, though the ordinarily straight forward journey to Chicago quickly goes awry. Soon Doyle has no choice but to cooperate with Dutch, and inevitably lower his guard in the process. Laughs ensue as the duo weaves in and out of tight situations, reminiscent of the classic Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. The film's soundtrack features artists such as Ziggy Marley, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams. Rating: PG-13

    Rat Race

Donald P. Sinclair (John Cleese) is a billionaire with too much time on his hands. For fun, he invites other tycoons to his Las Vegas casino, where they play Monopoly with real money. Bored, they are looking for a new high stakes challenge and Sinclair has an elaborate new plan. While some men may gamble by betting on horse or car races, Donald and his pals want to race humans, testing both their physical and mental agility. A number of special gold coins are placed in slot machines at the billionaire's casino. Those (un)lucky players who find them are invited to participate in an interstate heat from Nevada to New Mexico. The first participant to reach New Mexico receives $2 million in cash, but either Donald or one of his aristocratic pals is the real winner. Together the men place bets on which contestant will reach their goal first, and much more is at stake than a measly $2 million. The contenders include a sleepy foreigner from an unknown country, an ordinary mom, a shamed former football referee, a teen idol, and a female helicopter pilot -- just to name a few. Each player possesses their own unique skill, and predicting the winner is not an easy task for the game's financiers nor the film's audience. Relentless laughs are guaranteed by the presence of an all star comedic cast including Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Jon Lovitz, and many more familiar faces. Rat Race was an overwhelming commercial success, garnering $85.4 million in ticket sales -- nearly twice its production cost. Well-known tunes are featured throughout the picture such as the Baha Men's Who Let the Dogs Out, Smash Mouth's All Star and songs by Aretha Franklin and The Four Tops. Rating: Rated PG-13 for sexual references, crude humor, partial nudity and explicit language.

    27 Dresses

“27 Dresses” is an enjoyable film that introduces an eclectic mix of comedy and romance and stars the lovely Katherine Heigl as Jane who never says no to her friends when she is asked to be a bridesmaid. Jane has been a bridesmaid 27 times and for each bride she has selflessly taken on her bridesmaid’s duties as she planned and organized everything needed for the perfect wedding…there is one problem though, Jane is secretly in love with her boss, George, and is nurturing dreams of a lovely, romantic wedding of her own some day. Meanwhile as fate would have it Jane meets Kevin, a cynical writer who finds her attractive, and during the same week her flirtatious younger sister Tess comes to town. Things get even more complicated when Jane finds out she may end up losing George to none other than her very own sister, whom George proposes to and to make matters worse, Jane may be called upon to plan their wedding Meanwhile, Kevin tries to get Jane's attention and has an idea that may advance his career. Can Jane uncork her feelings? Heigl is a pleasure to watch, as she has the kind of crowd-pleasing, no-nonsense presence that could ground any film, so 27 Dresses greatly benefits from her comedic skill and charm. Heigl deserves comparisons to the likes of Julia Roberts for her sheer likability and like the classic Pretty Woman, women will likely watch 27 Dresses as a pleasant diversion- aware of the fantasy, but still delighted by the attractive lady in the different outfits. 27 Dresses attained great success, grossing $159,633,944 at the US box office.

    Catch and Release

“Catch and Release” is Oscar-nominee Susannah Grant’s directorial debut about a soon-to-be bride whose big day transforms from a wedding party to a memorial service. The comedy-drama shows Gray Wheeler, played by Jennifer Garner, with a happily partnered young lady anxious to wed her boyfriend Grady who she has been with for many years. Tragedy strikes, however, when Grady is accidentally killed while fishing with his pals. The following day, where the movie begins, Gray is attending her fiancée’s funeral alongside his family and friends; what would have been a joyous occasion is now filled with gloom. After mingling with the mourners Gray finds the environment unbearable and runs to an upstairs bathroom, crawls into its tub, and closes the shower curtain in a bid to be totally alone. Soon afterward Grady’s best bud, Fritz (Timothy Olyphant) enters the room with his latest sexual trophy, an attractive member of the event’s catering service. Unaware of Gray’s presence, the two begin passionately making love – while the former bride listens from behind the curtain. Once the session finishes, and the young girl leaves, Gray reveals herself to Fritz and reprimands him for his distasteful behavior. Predictably, this marks the beginning of a love-hate relationship that lasts for the remainder of the film. When upcoming financial strife forces Gray out of her home, Grady’s pals, including Fritz, invite her to their bachelor pad. This new living arrangement inevitably forces Fritz and Gray to confront their feelings for one another, though not without some speed bumps along the way. Gray’s idealistic perception of her deceased fiancé begins to fade after a lawyer reveals his hidden fortune, totaling over a million dollars. She also learns that her knight in shining amour had been sending $3000 to an anonymous woman in Los Angeles, which she suspects means he was cheating on her. Meanwhile, Gray’s would-be mother-in-law, Maureen (Juliette Lewis), callously demands that Gray return the couple’s wedding ring. As the picture continues to unfold the saying, “Things are not always what they seem” is reinforced. Gray will discover that those who appear to be perfect might indeed be substantially worse than those with minor character flaws. While the plot may seem completely devoid of humor, it in fact does induce laughter on many occasions. The soundtrack features songs by artists like the Foo Fighters and The Lemonheads. Director Susannah Grant has also penned the screenplays for pictures such as “Pocahontas” (1995), “Erin Brockovich” (2000), and “28 Days” (2000). “Catch and Chase” is rated PG-13 for sexual content, harsh language, and some drug use.

Armed with a handful of illegal immigrants for a crew, a tiny budget, and equipment stolen from a nearby studio, Bowfinger lacks just one thing... Hollywood's hottest action star, Kit Ramsey.
