It’s perfect for movie fans that want their home TV to reflect the screen ratio of their local Roxy. Now Philips’ Cinema 21:9 high-def unit is being delivered into retailers’ warehouses, ready for a mid-June availability throughout most of Europe.
But the 56 inch (across corners) HDTV unit ain’t cheap! Its screen mimics the cinema industry’s 2.39:1 format ratio, but the price is set at around £3500-£4000 in the UK, so this set takes buyers back a couple of years in terms of high-priced Plasma receivers.
But if nothing else buyers will get a large bang for their buck. The LCD set comes equipped with 5 HDMI ports, plus Ethernet and WiFi connectivity for broadband access as well as Philips ‘Ambilight’ Spectra backlight show.
