Freesat wins “Best New Brand” award

The free-to-view satellite broadcaster, Freesat, has won the ‘Best New Brand or Business’ category at the prestigious Marketing Society Awards for Excellence.

This is a significant award for the satellite service, which had some stiff competition to contend with in this category, including the BBC’s iPlayer service that was launched at the end of 2007 and has kept growing to the extent that ISPs are getting worried about the bandwidth used by the service.

Freesat recently announced that its customer base has grown to over four hundred thousand, and currently the satellite service offer its viewers access to over a hundred and forty digital TV and Radio channels.

The free access to HD channels has increased Freesat’s popularity, offering an alternative to the pay-to-view service provided by BSkyB.
