German motoring channel Motorvision TV is planning to offer its service to foreign audiences. “We want to go international as the next step,” managing director Jochen Kröhne told German magazine TV Digital. “A German car channel would certainly also be successful in foreign markets.”

The subscription service, launched on July 4, is available exclusively on pay-TV platform Sky Deutschland. Kröhne believes that Germany, as the mother country of automobiles, is predestined for such an offer. He explained that there were several attempts to launch the channel. “Fortunately Sky was interested and took us on board as the logical complement to its portfolio.”

The channel, which is backed by TV production company Motorvision, competes with auto motor und sport channel which was launched on July 1. That pay-TV channel, available on the cable networks of Unitymedia and via satellite on arenaSAT, is operated by publishing group Motor Presse Stuttgart, which publishes popular magazine auto motor und sport.
