Telekom’s Bundesliga IPTV figures disappointing
German telco Deutsche Telekom has so far won only around 30,000 customers for the soccer Bundesliga offer on its IPTV platform T-Home Entertain, reports financial newspaper Handeslblatt citing industry sources.
For Telekom, which has offered its subscribers all Bundesliga matches live since 2006, the engagement has resulted in high losses. The concept of using the Bundesliga to push IPTV forward has not proven successful. The company did not wish to comment on the figures.
Telekom currently has a total of 700,000 IPTV customers. The package, distributed via VDSL and ADSL2+, could be accessed by 20 million households.
