MediaPortal 1.1.0 BETA 1 - Released! - UPDATE 2009-08-30

Major changes in this BETA are:
WebEPG is now included as a plugin for TV-Server
RTSP Streaming IP can be changed in TV-Server configuration
(This is useful if the default port is in use by any other application.)
New OSD's have been slightly reworked and finished
TV-Server configuration has been reworked in some areas to enhance the usability, like new tuningformats and simplified scan dialog
Options have been added to TV-Server and MediaPortal Configuration to allow to disable and enable Microsoft MediaCenter Services
(This is required for TV-Server and Microsoft MCE Remote to work properly.)
Various memory leaks have been fixed in MediaPortal
Various fixes for the Topbar in MediaPortal
Improved Windows 7 compatibillity
Solved problems caused by IPv6 in TV-Server (only IPv4 is supported!)
Added dvb-s2 support for ProfRed Cards
Added CI menu support for Twinhan/Terratec cards
Improved TV error handling for better user experience
CI menu and messages are automatically enabled now
A few more features have been added to the SkinEngine
Audio seek with different speeds for BASS player
E-AC3 / DD+ audio stream type support for TV

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC2 RELEASED!


With the release of Mediaportal 1.1.0 RC2 we are one step closer to the final release.

The changelog will become smaller and smaller with every RC release, because the number of issues will decrease as well.

Important changes since 1.1.0 RC1:

* [fixed] Random crashes when starting / stopping playback
* [fixed] several memory leaks
* [fixed] several issues in the TvGuide which caused that scheduled recordings were not displayed correctly
* [fixed] Channel Linkage Scanner did not work anymore since Premiere change its name to Sky Germany
* [fixed] Issue with Technotrend where CI MEnu could trigger a crash
* [fixed] Stuttering on tv channels from the ProSieben/Sat.1 Mediagroup
* [fixed] removed blacklisting of FFDShow in TsReader - now it can be used again for the TV-feature and playback of ts files - make sure you use the latest version of ffdshow!
* [fixed] several issues with tv channels which are using dual-mono audiotracks.
* [fixed] various issues with the MTN - video thumbnail creator
* [fixed] Playback of recorded radio is not working
* [fixed] Changing audio language to AC3 does not work

Community Skin Designers should review the list of skinchanges since 1.0.1 .
There were some changes done which require Community Skins to update to be fully 1.1.0 RC2 compatible.

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC3 RELEASED!

In this release we again managed to fix several nasty issues, such as memory leaks. These fixes have increased the stability of the entire application even more.

We also made a small change which will make reporting bugs or posting support request threads a LOT easier for our great community.

Important changes since 1.1.0 RC2:

* [reworked] reporting bugs is now a lot easier
* [fixed] upgrade of Tv-Server can result in a crash
* [fixed]several issues which could prevent an upgrade or a clean installation
* [fixed] Stopping video playback can cause crash to desktop
* [fixed] several memory leaks
* [fixed] Animations using conditional visibility
* [fixed] MyVideos reloads the contents of a folder when stoping playback (which could cause that MP does not respond for quite a time)
* [fixed] last.fm lookup creates a lot of temp files which are not deleted
* [fixed] Some H264 recordings do not play
* [fixed] Pulse and Loop animations do not work
* [fixed] tvservice would sometimes hard crash when writing dx error to log
* [fixed] TeVii issues with graph building and very long tuning using diseqc
* [fixed] RTSP streaming doesn't work after sleep, when re-init TVService is enabled
* [fixed] Unable to tune same ATSC channel/subchannel consecutively
* [fixed] stream interuptions/stuttering

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC4 RELEASED!

We decided to release 1.1.0 RC4 earlier than planned, to give us more time to test a few changes we have done.

The most important fix is about the issue some users experienced where the installer was not able to stop the TV Service properly.
This resulted in the problem that the new version could not be installed and the TV-Server failed.
Important changes since 1.1.0 RC3:

* [fixed] IMDB grabber script was broken - use the "update grabber scripts" button in MediaPortal Configuration if you upgrade from a previous version of MP!
* [fixed] installation of TV-Server failed in a few cases because TV-Service could not be stopped
* [fixed] RSS plugin did not work
* [fixed] installation of an MediaPortal Extension might fail
* [fixed] Various tuning problems with DVB-T cards

Skin Designers should review the list of Skin Changes since 1.0.1 - while Plugin Developers should take a look at the newly created Code Changes page.
There were some changes done since the last stable release which require Extensions (Skins and Plugins) to update, to be fully 1.1.0 RC4 compatible.

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC5 RELEASED!

Here it is, the last Release Candidate for 1.1.0!

RC5 focuses on the last remaining, showstopper issues. If no new showstoppers are found in this release, then MediaPortal 1.1.0 final will follow in a few weeks.

Important changes since 1.1.0 RC4:

* [fixed] 0002936: MPC-HC subtitle engine is not working with MPC splitters
* [fixed] 0002919: Timeshift repeating on channel change
* [fixed] 0002940: Starting/stopping a current program recording gives an exception
* [fixed] 0002920: Scheduled recording could be inerrupted by epggrabber
* [fixed] 0002948: bug in MediaInfo.dll causes playback of ATSC recordings to fail

Testing and bug reporting:

To ensure that 1.1.0 final is as bug free as possible, we need your help!
Please take your time to test this RC5 carefully and report bugs you found in our related Bug Report forums.

Please do not post results of 1.1.0 RC 5 testing anywhere else.

Please follow the Bug Report guidelines when reporting issues. If you don't, then the bug report will not help our developers and it will be removed to keep the forums clean.

Help with Development:

If you are a developer, then you can help us to make MediaPortal 1.1.0 a great release. You can post your bug fixes directly in the dedicated ::Submit Patches forum:: . Our developers will review and add them to SVN once approved.

Please be aware that we do not accept new feature patches for 1.1.0 because we are in a feature freeze.


SVN-Testbuilds (SVN Snapshots)

The team decided that we will not offer any SVN-Test builds before the release of 1.1.0 final. Instead, we will release RC versions of MediaPortal 1.1.0 in a short cycle.

Extensions (Plugins and Skins)

Before you upgrade to MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC5, you must check if there are new/compatible versions available of the Extensions (Skins and Plugins) you use.

If not, then the old versions might no longer work and you need to wait for updated versions.

Finally the installer

A short notice before installing: Please do not use this RC5 on a productive system. It is pretty stable but might still contain some glitches. ;)
