Switzerland’s Cablecom to become UPC

Switzerland’s largest cable operator Cablecom will change its name to UPC after its parent company UPC Broadband, the European cable division of US media concern Liberty Global.

According to industry sources, the name change will take place by the beginning of 2010 at the latest. A Cablecom spokesman confirmed the revamp and stressed that at the same time a new concept for more customer-friendly services would be introduced.

The spokesman did not want to elaborate as to the timeframe or costs involved with the introduction of the new brand.
