How To Use An Unlooper
Rule Number 1 About Unloopers: They do NOT work like programmers. They are much more powerful, and somewhat more complicated. Having said that, rule number two about unloopers is that they will most likely correct any screw up that YOU make, either with it or with a programmer. In that sense, they are kind of like the safety nets of this hobby, protecting your card from yourself, and from harmful ecm's.
Lets first talk about the software you will use with your unlooper. (Note: Most likely you will be using a WildThing II or WT II clone. Almost all of the references in this section are towards this second generation chip, and NOT the original WildThing unlooper which has limited uses and only runs in dos mode.)
We recommend that your primary software tool be WildThing 3.0 (available in the download section.) Forget about any of the later versions, they have more bugs in them than the U.S. embassy in Moscow. The only other piece of software you will ever need to use your unlooper is Wbin2img.exe (also available in the download section.) I will explain what this program does in one moment, but first I should mention that you can use Prog.exe, a dos based software program on your second generation unlooper, but there really is no need to. The only thing that the dos based program allows you to do that the windows based programs do not, is the ability to run ATR glitching programs like M.exe and M2.exe. We do not recommend this course of action unless your card was pretty much trashed to begin with and you figure you have nothing to loose. Otherwise, it is probably a safer bet to send your card out to a pro.
Unloopers do not use .bin files the way programmers do. They use img. files. The program I mentioned above, Wbin2img will convert binary files and make them compatible for use with your unlooper. Know that you can convert .bin files to img. files, but not vice-versa.
Another difference from programmers to unloopers is that you should never put your card in until you are ready for it to start working (that is, until you have opened WildThing 3.0 and you have selected the action you desire). You will see why later.
Finally, remember that unloopers do not program, they unloop. Even so, you can find img. files of popular scripts on the internet but they are somewhat hard to find.. Furthermore they won't likely last very long given the current climate of hashing we have now (updates occur at the rate of almost one per week). Therefore, unloopers are not good tools to program with. Now, we will get on to what unloopers are good for, which is cleaning, cloning and of course unlooping.
HOW TO CLEAN
Unloopers are great tools to clean a card that has been locked or that has an unknown script on it.
1) Make sure Program Card is checked
2) Click on the quick button FIX CARD
3) Stick the card in
If you don't get an error message then you have just cleaned the card back to 26 updates.
HOW TO CLONE ( taking an image off another card, converting it with Wbin2img., cloning it onto your card)
How to take an image from another card
Use this process to extract the image from a different card
1) Make sure Read is checked off
2) Insert the card
3) Save it
You now have a .bin file of the card you just read, read how to convert it above, and there are directions on how to install a clone or a script below
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO CONVERT .BIN TO .IMG
You will need to run WBin2Img.exe this is the windows based converter.
All you need to do is double click on it and it will open up (no installing needed)
1) In the Input file box, choose the .bin file you want to convert
2) In the Desc. Box type in a description of what it is this doesn't have an effect on the outcome, it is just the description on the bottom of WT software when you open the .img file
This is the tricky part, you have to choose if you want to have the .img be a clone or not.
Non-Clone- Is when you make an .img file of just the script on the card
Clone- Is when you make an .img file of the script and the EPROM of the card you copied. You will change the cam ID of the card to be programmed to the card you made the .img of. Make sure you have a back up copy of the original image before cloning in case you ever have to restore the original image.
3) Put a checkmark in the box you want: non-clone or clone
4) Then choose the directory where you want it to installed
5) Click Convert
How to clone
1) Make sure Program Card is checked
2) Click on open image
3) Choose the .img you want to use and check the clone button if it prompts you.
4) Insert the card
You now have a cloned card.
For those of you who have no other choice but to use your unlooper to program:
How to install a script
Unloopers cannot program with the normal scripts your download off the Internet they can only put an .img onto a card. If you have a card with the script on it then you can read it, save the .bin, convert it as non-clone, and install the .img you have just made. There are .img files for most scripts on the Internet you just have to look for them.
1) Make sure Program Card is checked
2) Click on open image
3) Choose the .img you want to use
4) Insert the card
You now have just "programmed" with your unlooper.
HOW TO UNLOOP
Unlooping cards is a tricky thing; the more you do, the better you get at it. Trouble is, you hope you won't get a lot of practice at it. A card could unloop on its very first pass. Then again, it may take many attempts with all the glitch points before you get any correction. Of course, the worst case scenario would be that your card can not be saved at all and no amount of glitching, wishing and expletives about its mother can bring it back from that awful place of ice scrapers. Follow this procedure to give your card the best chances from retiring to a frosty grave.
1)Choose "Setup" under the "Options" menu. Make sure that Magic Fix Auto ECM is NOT checked.
2)After you exit out of the WT 3.0 software (as recommended) and have reopened it, click the "Fix Card" box and start running through the glitch points.
3)Make sure the un99 Glitch circle is shaded, insert card, remove.
4)Repeat this step with all glitch points.
5)Go back to the "Setup" menu, and CHECK the Magic Fix Auto ECM. (Exit and Reopen).
6)Click the "Fix Card" button, and select "Program Card" , insert card, remove.
If your card has not unlooped at this point, repeat steps at least three times. If the card is still looped at that point:
7)Choose "Setup" under the "Options" menu. Make sure that the "Ignore Write Errors" box is checked. (Exit and Re-open)
8)Repeat steps 1 through 6. If the card is still looped at that point:
9)You can try all of the above steps again, but toggle through different Byte RX TO and TX TO values. The default value is 1000, so try to increase both values (by an equal amount) in increments of about 1000, to a maximum of 9000.
If none of the above helps, you may want to consider using M or M2 in Prog.exe. or send your card to a reputable cleaner. It's either that, or store it in your glove box for those frosty mornings.
