I think Dish Network is a lot better than DirecTV because they have more HD channels.

Some of the basic channels Dish Network carries in HD which DirecTV does not include:

BBC America
Bloomberg
Cooking Channel
DIY Network
E!
G4
Gameshow Network
H2
HLN
The Hub
Investigation Discovery
Lifetime Movie Network
Logo
MAV TV
National Geographic Wild
OWN
Style

They also carry both the EPIX premium channels. EPIX has good picture quality and has cool exclusive stuff from time to time (like the only way to watch Shatner's documentary, "The Captains," in HD)

DirecTV's lineup is looking pretty pathetic these days as they haven't added new basic HD networks for years. They're not serious about high definition anymore and are getting beaten by all of their competitors in that sector.

I will concede that Dish's feud with Disney might be disappointing. No ABC Family or Disney Channel in HD. But on the bright side Disney is reliable about putting all their shows up for sale in 1080p on iTunes and they're also on Netflix.

I agree, I have subscribed to both, I am a loyal Dish customer, now.

DirecTV all the way. Customer service is great and the picture quality is much clearer.

I've been a Dish user since 2007 and have always been satisfied with the HD quality, alongside their bundle offers.
